I wouldn't be surprised if he asked to be cut. He was very unhappy at the end of this season. Other players have also been unhappy with management/ownership of that team. Houston seems like a train wreck.

Then we could have all 3 Watt brothers!
With only one of them able to stay healthy all season..........But, think of the Subway franchise opportunities!

TJ would for sure take a little less to sign his brother. I have no doubts. He WILL be a Steeler. Just a matter of when. Watts aren’t all about the money and a chance to play with your brothers is something money can’t buy.

Well at least next season will be exciting with all the new faces.
Honestly, it's long overdue . When was the last time we won a playoff game ?
Would love to see JJ in Pittsburgh for a year or 2. Tyson will probably be gone via FA.
The draft will be exciting this year as well, with the pick being anywhere from a QB, RB, LB , or maybe even a surprise.

I know it’s unlikely but man would it be cool to see him and TJ on the same line. He can play inside or outside and they’d be able to rotate the line a bit more.

He would have to sign a deal well below market value though

Cal McNair ideology is a train wreck. His father is even worse and it has nothing to do with his infamous comment either. Constantly attempting to go the "Patriot Way" is what has caused the Texans dearly since Bill O Brian.

That said, Jack Esterby and Dan Culley are just a continuation of the issue. Expect those issues to persist.

The McNair Family is a mess. Makes Jerry Jones look like Dan Rooney! That family is a complete joke.

No kidding. It didn't seem all that long ago that they were an up and coming team with loads of talent and in the playoffs.

I don't know that anybody can make JJones look like Rooney. Is it even possible that someone could be that FdU?

Anyone have any dirt on JJ? Let's get him here for the vet minimum.

Rumor has it that they are looking for three 1st round picks and two young defensive starters to land Watson! Insane!

JJ has made his coin and getting him for a rotational player would not be to shabby, but the money would be have to be nominal.

It's obvious he'll be signing with the Steelers. The question is whether this moves the needle on the team becoming serious contenders.

What are everybodys thoughts on Derek Watt next year? I for one who was excited when we signed him, and extremely pissed when they didn't use him at all...

Does anyone know if you THINK the Canada system will afford him more opportunities?

Before coming here Watt was a good, well rounded FB...A few carries a game, a few receptions, I formation lead blocker...Then he gets here and doesn't even sniff the field... Another reason I'm SO glad Fitchner is gone...

WHY did they even sign him in the first place...

Shotgun has limited opportunities for a FB. Ben has limited opportunities under center. Combine the two and you get a wasted FB position. If Ben hangs them up, we'll have a qb under center more than 50% of the time and our running game will become more a part of our offense. Can't say that it will be dominant, seeing as how our OL isn't top tier. But it will give defenses something to plan for. So as long as Ben isn't in the mix, I can see us utilitzing the FB even more to help create mismatches and open running lanes.

Ben leaving does a few things for us immediately. It puts a qb sneak back in the playbook. Lining up with a FB and a qb under center gives us 3 ball carriers for the defense to account for. It also puts play action and rpo's back into the mix as well. And with a FB in the mix, defenses have to respect a power set and play honest. That opens up sweeps and screens.

I see a much greater role for the FB next season...IF Ben retires and IF Canada embraces a new qb and allows the offense to change to his strengths.

Green Bay will be a better fit. We don't have the money. He can go back to Wisconsin and be on a contender right away. I don't look for Derek Watt to be here next year.
