    Make the call, Colbert!

How does this work, if the Steelers wanted him, they have to wait to see if a bunch of teams in front of them claim him first? Or is he free to sign with anyone the moment he’s released?

Bouye is a vested vet I would imagine so no waivers. Good player but why would the Steelers want him? I’d hold on to Nelson and Haden, rework their contracts if needed, and see what develops with Layne and Pierre.

    Thanks.

I’m thinking 2020 season marred by injury and suspension, you can get him cheaper than usual.

I think he’s better than what we got.

Haven’t watched a lot of him to be honest. Would you cut one of Nelson / Haden? I’m happy enough with that pair going in to 2021 and would only make a change to save money

Should already be on the plane ..4 real he has good speed and the ability to play press I knew he did some good reps of 225 at his Pro Day ...I had to go look 18 reps thats very solid for a guy who weights 190...

With him and Haden we could play a lot of Press Man/Zone..We could also use more Cover 1 if you can trust your outside guys in man coverage...

He got suspended last season for PEDs, and will miss the first 2 games this season. He's not that good anymore, I would rather keep Haden and Nelson.

I was all 4 it till you posted that. Usually once suspended for PEDs it's slowly over.

I’m not so sure now. I was remembering him from his days in Jacksonville when he was really good but apparently his play dropped off his last year there, plus he’s a little older than I thought.

Still, with Haden’s cap hit and being a couple years older than Bouye, might be worth bringing him in over Haden. Nelsons passer rating against was really terrible though, like 97 compared to Hadens 75. I don’t know what his cap hit is but he’s younger than both of them. Not sure what I’d do.

We have seen nothing from him. Subpar to say the least.. Leaning towards bust.

Hopefully they can somehow sign Sutton.

Its a tough call. I personally would keep what we have unless they can sign Sutton. That's a huge maybe. Restructure would have to be in the cards.

Bring Bouye in for a look see. Kick the tires. Someone will sign him. Right now the Steelers can't even think of signing anyone until they figure out how to get out of the red.

This team is going to be retooling, rebuilding whatever you want to call it. It goes beyond just plugging a few pieces and making a run. Last season was the last shot with the roster they had. The piper is calling.

Lots of what ifs on the horizon.

Year 3 can see the light come on in some cases so I won’t give up on Layne just yet. He is a converted WR and is still learning the position. At this point I’d probably agree that it’s not looking good.

Fingers crossed either he or Pierre can contribute going forward.

I have absolutely no idea how our teams front office works but i would hope that this organization is already planning for 1. what they have to do, 2. what they would like to do and still achieve #1, 3. plans to deal with contingencies and unforeseen actions needed, and 4. they have already strategized this out like a draft board. In other words, I don't think that on Monday, the day after our unbelievable loss, they got up and went to a meeting and said, "well, how are going to get under the cap by the start of the new year?" You would hope that planning to deal with this huge financial issue would be handled the same way businesses handle planning for their next fiscal years budgets. I can assure you they start on this months before it needs to be done. I am not saying the players are settled in what they are going to do, and where, I just hope its a matter of putting the pieces of the puzzle together the way they hoped. I think theyare very tight lipped about what goes on behind the curtain so I am speculating what my thoughts and hopes are on this are.
