As much as I always want another ring for the Steelers, I could not bear to watch Ben get spanked by Brady in the Super Bowl.

As much as I hate Brady I have to agree. He is probably doing 10 hours a day preparing for this game. The guy could be up by 30 with 5 minutes to go in the SB and would still be studying the defense or the next series. Ben, not so much.

That's how it goes sometimes . The less talented, working harder, and eventually surpassing the more talented.

You only want to go to the SB when you think you can win?

I guess you live in your fears.

Grew up in WNY, have lots of family wh9 are rabid Bills fans. Brought up the prospect the Bills might go 0-5 if the got to SB LV. The almost universal reply: if they lose they lose, it beats the steady diet of 4-12 / 6-10 seasons we’ve had the last 25 yrs.

I actually used to think that way until Super Bowl 30. The year before they got there I didn't feel they were ready and I wanted the perfect record in the Super Bowl to continue. I was highly upset about the loss to the Cowboys that year. Losing to the Packers I was disappointed, but not as upset.

I’d take a SB appearance with a 10% chance of winning vs whatever the hell we been doing since 2011.

If we are good enough to beat the Bills and Chiefs to get into the SB then we are good enough to win it all.

I’d rather have the Steelers in the Super Bowl-you can’t win if you don’t play

I am glad we get the 24th pick instead of the 31st or 32nd in the draft, Why suck a little when you can suck a lot.

True, but they are not good enough, by a mile and a half.

That's my thinking as well but I would say "If we were able to beat the Bills and Chiefs". Couldn't even beat the Stains though.

He turned the ball over but they really didn't have a detrimental effect on the game. Where and when the ball is turned over makes the difference.

I wonder if you'll feel this way when the Chiefs completely pants Brady and the Bucs, and Tom retires after the game.

By the way, this is a perfect example of the "sour grapes" idiom

Poppycock, the Steelers are capable of beating any team in the playoffs let alone the SB. This drivel about Ben & Tomlin is sour grapes. It tóok the whole team to lay down for the Clowns, a group effort. They are all responsible for mailing it in. TJ, Minkah, Cam, everyone on that vaunted defense. Ben, the oline, team dropus, Conner, Snell & the rest of the anemic offense. The players determine the final score by how they execute good plays or bad ones. Steelers just rolled over down the stretch like a drugged up race horse.

That's the way I look at it.
    The current team, no.
The team with a healthy Bush and Dupree (rewriting history that they were out many regular season games but came back)... that is a fierce defense.

    Ben's numbers for that Brown's game: 47/68, 501 yards, 4/4
The other bit of history rewriting is to make him a bit more consistent, and play more like the first 11 games. His 1st Q meltdown is a lot less, and he only had to throw for 400 yards in that game.

We've always heard over the years that Ben didn't practice like he played and it was overlooked because of how he did play on game day. He wasn't known to be the first in the building or last to leave. As great as he was, this is what sets him apart from the "Elite QB" discussions. I think his lack of investment as a "student of the game" is what is hurting him now in not recognizing his declining ability. He only knows how to be gunslinger. It's kind of like the line from the Toby Keith song "My body says no, but my pride says Oh yes you can!"

If we were in the SB it would probably mean our defense was intact and I'd like our chances with a healthy defense to give Brady fits.

Maybe Ben will take us there next year and we will kick a 44 year old mans ass.
