When they resign JuJu, Haskins can take the selfie video of him dancing on opponents logos.

Yeah, Paxton Lynch (another 1st rounder) fell into our laps too, and that worked out great!

Seriously though, if he’s cheap I’m not sure that I mind kicking the tires a bit.

Doesn’t hurt and I still slept like a baby with Lynch on the team :smiley1:

No harm no foul. I do think he is much more talented than Lynch though but he’s been down right awful up to this point.

After reading this the Steelers create there own problems. Like they don’t have enough.

His awfulness doesn't give me much hope. But it is a one year deal. Weren't the Steelers supposed to trade Tomlin for Haskins a year ago?

They may have winning regular seasons, but cracks are starting to show.

Yeah, that was Baba yaga’s idea or maybe that’s Benny Lava I’m thinking of.

Enquiring minds want to know, does his contract have a clause forbidding him to distribute Steeler t-shirts at a nudie club?

I hate this move. HATE IT!

First off, I thought Haskins was way over drafted in the first place. One great season on a stacked Ohio St. team and people were calling him a top ten pick. I thought he was a project then. Now, I don't even think he is a good project.

He wasn't just bad in Washington. He was awful. On top of that he has maturity / character issues, which is exactly what this team does not need.

Best case scenario is he makes the team and he's a QB3.

Worst case scenario is he doesn't make the team and gets cut.

I'm not sure that the sky is falling from this news lol.

It’s a no risk move. If he acts up you cut him with no lost money, if he works out you have a cheap QB.

Now Ben is the 3rd best QB on the team... Retire Ben before we sign someone else.

The eternal optimist in me wearing black and gold sunglasses says that Haskins learns from his mistakes and realizes his potential with a better supporting cast.....
The pessimist in me says WTF... Is Tomlin crazy, signing a guy who won't work on his craft and hurt his old team more than he helped....
Haven't figured out which side is winning yet

Judging by the comments you would think we just gave him $100 mill guaranteed lol.

Look, I have somewhat mixed feelings about this.

I think the main arguments against him coming are this:

    1. He doesn't have talent. He can't play. It was only one year at OSU.
    2. He doesn't take it seriously. Falling asleep in meetings. He doesn't have the discipline to succeed.
    3. He is immature. Going to strip clubs. Risking his coaches life, etc. (honestly if Rivera is such a risk he shouldn't have been coaching in a COVID era. He chose to so he must understand the risk)

Here are my thoughts to go against these arguments.

    1. Let's assume he was over-drafted and he has no talent. Fine, this contract doesn't promise him playing time. I don't think the contract says, even if Ben is back and having a Pro Bowl year, you will start by game 9. If he sucks, he will get cut. No harm no foul right now with this signing. It's one year.

    2. You know, I'm not sure how much support he was getting to teach him how to be a pro. Case Keenum isn't really a guy you go...what a great mentor for him.... type. Alex Smith may be better, but due to some of his own issues I'm not sure he was getting taught what to do. Maybe having a guy like Ben or being around a successful coach like Tomlin will fix him. I don't know, but he is young, let's not judge him for where he is right now in life.

    3. Yep. Immature. The great thing about this one...he will grow. What happened with WFT and ultimately getting cut has a way of doing one of 2 things....1. He will fix his life, mature, determine he wants to be a pro QB, and have some success, or 2. He will determine it isn't his fault and he will turn into Johnny Manzel. He is going to have to show the coaches it is option 1 or he will be gone. I do think you are looking at a young man who has millions of dollars, probably for the first time in his life. THOTS are throwing activities at him like he never thought or imagined he would have access to. He may have lost he way and forgot what his purpose and goal was for his life. If he wakes up, he might be able to fix it. He might not, but again I am sure there are stipulations in his contract and that allow the team to just cut and get out of this contract.
