Since we are out of the playoffs just for fun, what former players on opposing teams would you have liked to see in a Steeler uniform? I'm sure there are a few obvious picks such as Marino, Jerry Rice, etc.,. I will say I won't swap out any of the Steeler greats that we had, but there are a few I may have wanted to see. For example, the years between Bradshaw and Ben, I could have seen someone like Boomer Esiason in a Steeler uniform. I think he would have been a great QB to have through the mid 80's to early 90's. He seems he would have fit that Steeler mold. Running Backs, I would have loved to have had Marcus Allen or Roger Craig.

One of my favorite not a Steeler..Marshall Faulk, Roger Craig, Larry Johnson, a guy still playing...but I'm talking about his earlier years....Gronkowski...if he was on our team...he couldn't have hurt us so much.....I bet if I went and looked ...I could come up with more...memory is not what it use 2 be

I would have loved to see them use the '85 first round pick on Randall Cunningham rather than Daryl Sims (Cunningham went early in the 2nd round). The latter only played with us for a season. At that point Malone was struggling with injuries (as well as being not that great) so the pick wouldn't be entirely out of the question.

Imagine what we could have done with Cunningham at QB for the late 80s and 90s...

Johnny Unitas. It's almost criminal that we let him leave.

Ed Reed. Imagine him and Troy on the field at the same time.

I can't believe there is not a single mention of Dan Marino.

I would love for the Steelers to have kept more of their own former Steelers in a Steelers uniform during the 90's.

Guys like Greene, Lake, and Woodson were all given up on with a lot of gas in the tank.

Me personally?! Quite a few players

Javon Kearse. Him and Joey Porter would have caused quite a stir in the 2000s for the AFC Central and then the AFC North.

Another is Quenton Nelson. Very recent I know but he would have made a great Steelers player.

Ed Reed like @pjgruden stated. However, him, Minkah and Terrell (pure Box Safety only) would have made one fun tandem to look at.

Dan Marino also. Would not mind having him. That said, I wonder how much he would have liked balance within the Offense?! Definitely still believe he is the greatest thrower of the Football but I am uncertain as to how much he would have liked to run the ball.

Plenty more to choose from. The man in my avatar of course. That said, I think other Steelers players in the present day would be flagged like crazy; doubly so for Troy and Ryan Clark.

No Sh*t. Man you are picky. Maybe they shouldn't have cut him? Never played a regular season game.

Steelers had Johnny Unitas and Len Dawson on their team. And didn't draft Dan Marino.

Imagine how different the Steelers would have been had they kept all those guys.

Yep. I'm flipping illiterate. What part of Johnny Unitas was never a regular season Steeler don't you understand? Drafted and cut immediately.

He wore a Steelers uniform in training camp. Cut before the season began. As you can see he’s in a Steelers uniform. upload_2021-1-17_20-53-25.jpeg

Nice early Latrobe picture. He still never played a regular season down for the Steelers.

It’s not from Latrobe. They held trading camp at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY that year.
He’s in a Steelers uniform. He doesn’t qualify.
