the experts say it will cost $14-15 million per year. I don't see how this is possible especially if Ben comes back. I'd rather see them sign Bud

Off topic but hearing how we are talking about Ben reminded me of this.

I know a few Patriot fans and I'm a little taken back how they are bad mouthing Brady. Tom Brady gave New England fans pretty much 20 amazing years that any franchise would take in a heartbeat. I'm a Patriot fan I would have him all over the man cave and he would be a big time hero to me.

I'm done with Ben at this point but I'll always appreciate all the W's he brought to the Burgh.

Ben has said that all year. Not sure why it would be news now, other than the play that "will Ben be back or not" gets.

Ben isn't in the long term plans so I don't think his influence will much for this decision.

At this point yes. We need to get a good running back, improve the OL and let Mason be Mason and not expect him to play Ben's game. If we improve the skillset of those around Mason, we can win with him. Getting to a Super Bowl may be another question, but if he isn't the answer at that point, then draft a QB for the future that can make an immediate impact with the talent around them. When Ben was drafted, he wasn't the piece to build around, the team was already there with the likes of Bettis, Parker, Ward, Randle El, and Buress. (I know, you can say Buress left after Ben's first year, but he helped Ben's first year success.) These players helped Ben make an immediate impact. Without them, the Steelers would not have made it to Super Bowl XL.

    So do I.

I don’t envy the Steelers, lot of decisions to make this offseason.

I think they need a different running back and a better game plan for that running back. Week after week I watch RB's around the league who refuse to go down on first, second third contact. Hunt dragged 4 Steelers into the end zone the other night (not that I'm a big Hunt fan), Taylor did it in the Colts game too. Both games yesterday all the running backs were getting yards on their own when needed, getting to the second level. I know the Steelers run blocking is suspect, but when was the last time we saw a Steelers running back bulldoze a DB or drag anyone?
Bell doesn't interest me, the way he left soured the team and he'll never be what he was (imo).

I believe Bell was injured their last game......don't know how bad, or his status 4 today? I actually quit watching football once we are out. Just checkout scores....and watch College stuff till the Combine.

Snell ran people over when he got the start late in the season.

I know but it's like you look at the Steelers current stable of RBs and you can tell that none of them are starters in this league.

Maybe they aren't, go find one in the draft this year.

McFarland would be a star in an offense that knows how to use him. Poor Man's Kamara. The Steelers ran him between the tackles a few times and gave up.

Snell might be serviceable, but he's not the answer.

He might be good for a RB by committee, that's why I said earlier they need to draft a RB.

If the choice is Ben at 41 million or extended, yes Mason. Pu vet backup n save cash. If they have poor season draft next QB

They will do a extension to lower the cap hit, with so called false money down the road per Steelersdepot.

Yeah that’s the same thing I said to do with Haden. Difference is Haden is still good.
Huge mistake to extend Ben IMO
