I'm not opposed to Canada becoming the OC. He has experience calling plays, but at the college level. I know what his style is based on his 2016 year at Pitt. His playcalling allowed Pitt to beat PSU and the eventual NC Clemson. Expect a ton of jet sweeps, shuffle passes out of the jet sweep, presnap motions out the arse. It's a zone based run game.

Id say all the more reason to promote him. But my only issue with him is he constantly looks for a better job. That's why he was at many of his college gigs for one season. I could see him being an OC for a year or two and then heading back to college as a HC.

With his scheme, expect Watt to have a much bigger role in the offense.

If that’s the offense he plans to implement then I’d say Nathan Petermen would be a better choice at QB then Ben. I don’t see Ben being that mobile anymore

Me neither. Ben gotta hang em up. I could see Mason being adequate in a stop gap role until a Franchise QB is drafted in 22 or 23.

You want your coordinators to always be pushing for a better job. Thats what drives them to do their jobs better.

Why are the Dolphins even interested? I mean it's not like our QB play this year was stellar. Although I'm sure they would think he would be good for Tua.

So you don't expect teams to be beating down Finchtner's door?

I predict he's done in this league, as far as an OC job.
    I'd be very surprised, anyway.

Id say because of his track record in college and Mason did show some growth. Maybe if Mason played more games his short comings would've been more evident.

No, but it's also his age and demeanor. He didn't even seem like he wanted to be anything more than a QB coach at this point.

Didn't he hold multiple roles throughout his career? I feel like he was never good at any of them.

BTW, Fichtner was named OC a day after Haley left. If Canada isn't named soon, it might mean they're looking outside the organization.

Team needs a cultural change with a new HC on down.

I wouldn't be opposed to Matt Canada but I hope the FO does their due dilligence on other candidates.

I'd like to see Brian Schottenheimer get a look.

Is this decision all based on what Ben does?

Promotion from within and Ben staying one more year makes sense.

Hiring an outsider with a totally new offense and Ben staying doesn’t make sense.

I think I would rather have a Power Blocking scheme..IMO physical play is a tone that has to be set ...Zone Blocking is a softer style this Team needs to stop playing soft on both sides of the ball...A lot of Defenses are going smaller at LB, and using more and more nickle and dime..Now is the time to ZIG why they ZAG get big Powerful OL and mash some people...

At this point in his career I doubt Ben is taking advice from a QB coach. Any influence Canada had would have been on the younger QBs.

This soft @ss dink and dunk has to be put to bed. A power running attack, play action, throwing more then 10 yards.

I feel its time for Ben to go. He now doesn't have his patsy anymore. And he would be resistant to listening to a new coordinator, even Canada.

I am not against Canada being the next man up but I hope they do a thorough search and not pick a lame duck that can be controlled.

Ben at 41 mill next season is ludicrous...

Here is a thought, Bring back Gailey as the OC:hmm:...... At this point i would prefer a proven OC then have a unproven up in comer as OC......but to be honest i think the Steelers will spend the least amount of $ on who ever that might be
