Heard him on NFL Radio this evening, some interesting takes. He admits he hasn’t seen enough of them to make a GM’s decision, but not what I was expecting to hear:

    * Basically likes everyone on defense, but thinks Haden might be old (and probably not a part of future plans). Edmunds underperformed
    * Thinks Bud Dupree is gone
    * Thought the loss of Bush and Dupree is what wrecked our defense (nothing new)
    * Implied Juju was being misused, I’m assuming that meant he should be moved out of the slot
    * Didn’t like Johnson at all, drops and his stats as our primary route runner
    * Wanted to punt on Ebron immediately
    * Thought Vance is a very good 2nd TE
    * Oddly, didn’t have an issue with Ben at all. Just thought he was having a problem seeing inside coverage for some reason (assuming he meant it was a correctable issue). That really shocked me, so maybe Ben has some life left after all.
    * Very unimpressed with Conner, thought he underperformed and was gassed by end of the season
    * Seemed big on Snell, but couldn’t resolve why his numbers were so bad

Seemed to think the Steelers may have a rebuilding year coming up, which is hard for me to believe since the franchise isn’t one to throw away seasons.

They had JuJu run short routes all year, almost like a RB would, until late in games when they needed him to move the chains.

Problem is JuJu is too slow for the outside, depending on who is covering him. Maybe he could run deeper routes on the outside, but I think you need a run game or a legit deep threat taking top off coverage to free him up. Claypool is a big target, but he doesn't have the speed teams fear.

I agree about punting Ebron. Maybe Vance will take a pay cut? He is buds with Ben and I doubt he wants to start over somewhere else.

If he can't figure out the Steelers have aging mediocre OL which can't run block, then why even bother listening to this aging mediocre out-of-touch talking head?

If Munchak didn't teach you that the O-line performance is largely coaching in the NFL then I guess you weren't paying attention. Blocking is largely technique. The difference between most starters in the NFL isn't much physically. You don't need probowlers at every position. Maybe a top notch OT or OG to help you with the running game but we should be better than we are. The O-line dropped off dramatically in 2 seasons after Munch left.

Defense wasn't "wrecked" until the playoff game. The Browns prepared well to overcome missing guys, the Steelers didn't prepare for anything different, nor did they adjust.

Claypool runs a 4.42 forty. Not sure how much faster you want someone to be.

How many times did you see him running down field without someone on his back. He doesn't have Mike Wallace speed.

I respect the hell out of Bill Polian’s word, personally. As far as ESPN goes, when him or Louis Riddick (also has NFL front office experience) or Ryan Clark talked, I usually listened closely. Especially Polian and Riddick

NFL boundary corners run at least 4.45 generally. Chase Claypool is verified fast. His play speed could increase, but thats what more experience should get you

    Pouncy is less than mediocre.
Feiler is an acceptable RT but not a people moving guard.
DeCastro is good but in decline.
Dotson's arrow is pointing up. Above avg run blocker and acceptable pass blocker improving with every game.
Okorafor is at best a backup RT.
    Hawkins is a backup.
    Villanueva is acceptable in decline.
Banner? Who knows; big men and achilles tendon tears are an iffy proposition.

    Afraid not, bud. 4.42.

4.22 thats lighting! Especially for his size!

John Ross holds the record with 4.22. Chris Johnson is next at 4.24.

Bo Jackson had 4.12 in 86’ but it was when they had hand-times.

How do you all explain Mike Evans, his 40 time was 4.53, yet he seems to get behind dbs. Barring injuries, I believe Claypool will be a monster going forward, if we manage to get an OC who can draw up plays.

Claypool doesn't have much game speed and i don't really think he's that good (and he talks too much already). Martavis Bryant or Wallace had burner speed, i don't care what claypool's 40 was he doesn't play fast

He's 238 pounds, of course he doesn't have speed like Wallace .

Yeah, 4.22 is ridiculously fast. Not too many of those.

    This.

I fail to see why people do not understand this. Yes, the Offensive Line that the team had from 2015-2018 was incredible. That said, much of that greatness was due to their age in addition to their talent and coaching. The NFL has, is and will always be a young man's game; no matter what era.

Time to rebuild that line again.
