In other words, we suck on both sides of the ball.

No you can’t expect the D to play offense a d defense the entire season.

huge playmakers? What has Bush done? I'll give you bud dupree but Bush did very little and Vince shouldn't start for a HS jv team, let alone a pro team. He has to be the worst starting linebacker in the league. I'm sick of hearing how he's a run stuffer. BS. He runs into a gap and gets blocked or right into a blocker and the runner makes his cut at Vince because he knows he can run right past a Vince Williams tied up with a blocker. It's pitiful. This defense can hold plenty of blame for this downfall.

Our 2020 defense was more of a 5-2-4 base. (Every base defense now is basically a 4-2-5 nickel.) TJ Watt or Bud would drop back in coverage occasionally, but mostly it was at least a 4 man front, making it a disguised 4-3 if Watt or Bud dropped back.

Mike Hilton is especially important to our scheme, because in nickel formations he can become a OLB from the slot if a run is imminent.
He can have them play a legit versatile 4-3 if it becomes obvious a pass formation is going to be a run. Or he can blitz from there.

This defense was #1 for a reason. With their personnel, you can disguise things really well. This is more of an adjusted 3-4 that plays nickel. We’ll see what the personnel changes do though
