...BAL seems most likely Rd 1 opponent even with the following "chances" .

    Browns 33%
    Colts 29%
    Dolphins 17%
    Ravens 12% most likely

    Titans 8%

If Bills beat New England tonight (likely), the Bills:

still cannot improve position in week 17
can rest everyone vs Miami and still get the 2
can watch as PIT rests versus CLE
will likely watch TEN, BAL and IND take care of business

Makes sense as the path is likely through the 3 best teams in the AFC...KC, BUF and BAL

The Bills can’t improve their seeding next week but they can drop to the 3 seed if they lose to Miami and the Steelers beat the Browns on Sunday. So it’s gonna be interesting to see how Tomlin approaches this and how important do they think getting the 2 seed is over the 3 seed and playing the Bills here at home in a possible divisional round matchup if the chalk holds as opposed to playing in Buffalo. I think there is gonna be a ton of score board watching and if the Steelers have a chance to get that 2 seed I think they are gonna go for it.

One difference is the physical status of both teams. The Steelers are banged up and tired. The Bills are healthy and rolling. Turning Week 17 into a pseudo-bye makes more sense for the Steelers than it does for the Bills. That may be wishful thinking on my part, because I do think the Ravens are the worst possible matchup for the Steelers in the first round.

Tough to beat a team 3 times in a year.

How do you figure the Ravens are the 3rd best team in the AFC?

I don't think that is the issue. The issue is the way the teams are playing now. The Ravens have mostly recovered from their run of injuries and COVID infections, so this isn't going to be the team they beat in Pittsburgh. It is going to be the team they were insanely lucky to beat earlier in the season, except this time they won't have Bud Dupree.

I would much rather KC have to face Baltimore in Round 2 than any other team. If Pittsburgh has to play Baltimore, I hope it is in the AFC Championship.

I would do whatever it takes next week to avoid Baltimore for that reason. Play starters if we need the win, or play all the backups if we need the loss. KC is by far the toughest out and if nothing else the Ravens seem like the strongest team after the top three seeds.

I only see KC as better (qualitatively). Throwing regular season records out, which i think its fair to say you can do this time of year....Who do you put ahead of the Ravens?

A flashback to a comment Art Modell made back in January 1995:

“No team can beat us 3 times in one season.”

    Steelers 29

    Browns 9

Steelers also beat the Ravens 3 times in one season in 2008 Twice in Regular season and in the AFC championship game.

    That was one sweet season.

Fitzmagic has the rona. Bills starting Josh Allen. Dolphins likely don’t win. Ravens will then be 5 seed and play the Titans.

Titans are the most likely to be a wildcard as the only AFC team left to clinch their division. Texans are to them like the Ravens to us.

So when teams play each other three times in a season, the team that has won the first two, wins the third game 67% of the time. Just enough to keep me on edge.

Your not missing anything. It’s far from certain that the Steelers will play Balt. Cle is actually a more likely 1st round opponent.
Plug this into the PO mach8ne: Ravens beat Cincy, Cle beats pit and Mia beats Buf, and the Steelers will play The Ravens in round 1.
There are other ways, I’m sure.

I just plugged in the Dolphins, Ravens and Browns winning, and it set up Ravens vs. Steelers in Round 1.
