Since we do not have a running game and Ben can't throw long with consistent accuracy, Ben can take the snap and throw the short timing passes, then hand off to Mason for the long ball. Just like having a short yardage back. Ben is our short yardage QB.

The problem is that there's a more than 50% chance that Mason will hand it back to Ben because no one lets him pass for longer than 5 yards

that only works if the qb is also a threat to run, so this would actually be a Dobbs wrinkle

I would option dobbs. Ben hand off to dobbs and he can throw or run. Ben can throw as well...

I honestly do not know what Dobbs has, but in that type of formation his athletic ability at least makes it something the D has to shadow. MR and Ben in the same backfield would make D's salivate with desire.

not that Dobbs is the answer, but at least he overs a change of pace over Mason. Young statue or Old Stature? I don’t see a difference.

Funny thing about Dobbs/Mason. I’m sure most would agree Mason has barely played this yr, but he played 21 snaps, all in garbage time. Josh Dobbs has played only 30 snaps in his entire career. The last one was over 2 yrs ago in Oakland.
