I enjoyed the first 10 games of this Steelers season more than any stretch I can remember. No matter how this thing plays out the rest of the way, thats what I am going to take from this season.

Injuries, Covid rescheduling, and a legendary QB who fell apart physically (and mentally) are to blame for this thing falling apart.

The outlook is bleak. So here are some positives to take away from this season.

Regardless of the score the Steelers beat the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers SWEPT the hated Ravens.
The Steelers Defense sacked quarterbacks at will when both Watt and Dupree were healthy.
When this Defense was completely intact it could not be run on.
Even in this, the Browns best year, the Steelers still owned them.
The Steelers beat 3 out of the other 6 teams that will be in the AFC playoffs.
The Steelers Defense abused both Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow.

It will take a miracle to turn this thing around. Had a few things gone differently our road to seven was looking pretty damn good.

Yup. For 11 weeks all I could hear was my ears ringing. 3 losses later there’s a lot of birds chirping.

Oh well another “what could’ve been”.

Life always seems to go better when the Steelers are winning. For 11 straight weeks I walked around with a smile on my face.

I would like to think that we're holding back and when the playoffs start, we'll unleash hell on both sides and take our opponents by surprise...….
look..... just leave me alone about it!!!!!

Tomlin's waiting until January to unleash hell. Smart.

I hear U . I can't even watch anything Football related after a loss. Outside reading the board. :puking2:
I won't even watch other games till we play again. First 11 weeks watch all of it, and every game I could.
After that I've only watch our games. All losses. :puking2:

Reminds of something I read from a sports writers article decades ago:

Self-delusion is the essence of being a fan.

How so? Because I enjoyed the first part of the season? It was certainly more enjoyable to watch than what we are witnessing now. No?

When you look at the last three games one thing that jumps out is that opportunities were hard to come by due to self inflicted wounds. Against both the Bills and the Bengals it wasn't the injuries on defense were beginning to show it was that the defense was never able to help establish a lead and force the otherwise into being one dimensional. You put up a 14 pt lead on Buffalo you can force Allen to hold onto the ball and look to complete passes downfield and then up the pressure. On offense it was self inflicted wound after self inflicted wound. Trying a tackle eligible pass from the 1 to a guy you should probably never throw to. Line up under center and have the back leap the pile but yet they come away with nothing. Down by 7 with 2 minutes left, a well stock stable of WR's and they don't try to get a first down but try a kill shot on all 4 attempts. They killed themselves in these games.

The goal this season was to win the Super Bowl. If they fail in that quest, especially if it is accompanied by a season-ending collapse, then there are no positives to take out of the season.

The Donner Party didn't celebrate the nice stretch of weather they enjoyed in May.

To be fair, the Steelers didn't NOT win the Super Bowl yet. I know the outlook is pretty bleak, but maybe they get it together.

I agree with what you are saying about winning it all. Im just saying that I enjoyed the undefeated run.
