    relative to his peers...

Meaning the gap between him and 2nd best kicker is wider than that for any other player, including Mahomes, Rodgers, Hill, Kelce, Henry, etc.

He’s the best kicker for sure but I’d take the princess over him any day lol

I put him at the best in his position that is for sure and not much of close 2nd. He's t he highest paid kicker for a dang reason.

Now you see why Tomlin wasn't insanely crazy to give the Ravens the ball 1st last season in OT. He knew if they took the ball 1st, and went 3 and out the Steelers would lose.

His plan almost worked up until Juju fumbled.

His kick last night would of been good from 65, he's that dang good.

    Agree with @troybellringer55@troybellringer55

Whomever is second to Justin Tucker.... is not laughably a close second. He is the undisputed king of his position. No one even compares.

I would say Aaron Donald is another but there are still too many challengers now; DeForest Buckner, Quinnen Williams (living up to his billing) and Da'Ron Payne being chief among them. Patrick has Aaron Rodgers but I would not discount the likes of Josh Allen though. Some say T.J. Watt is the best EDGE but players like Myles Garrett and Joey Bosa have something to say about that.

Some of you guys need to look up stats before you throw out the Tucker platitudes. Koo and Sanders are 7/7 and 8/8 beyond 50 yards this year. So the gap isn't that far, just the perception. Having said that, because of Tucker's experience, I would want Tucker kicking before anyone else.

No. Tomlin wouldn't use him correctly. Tomlin would still go for the 4th and 1s.

It is not just this season though. The title of best at one's position predicates over a cumulative period of time; the past three years being the most recent. During those three seasons, no one comes close to Justin Tucker.

IDK about the others but Greeny shared this stat on Tucker today, with less that a minute to play he has hag 14 chances to win the game..he is 14 for 14...that is clutch.

I'm aware of those guys, but I'm also aware that Greg the Leg Zurlein was supposed to be the greatest kicker ever, until he wasn't. It's easy to be among the top for a season or even two, but to do it consistently long term is a completely different animal. I think the OP has a point. I'm not sure there's as big of a difference between the top guy and the 2nd place guy at any other position.

    Mahomes - Wilson, Rodgers
    Cook - Henry, Barkley
Metcalf - AJ Brown, Hopkins, Tyreek
    Kelce - Kittle, Waller

Defensive positions are even harder to rate. I'm not sure there's 1 guy at any position that is unanimously the best, except for QB, but Wilson and Rogers aren't far off. I don't think there is a close second to Tucker.

Great topic, but Tucker doesn't have his chances if his offense doesn't get him in position for attempts. Having said that, no one single player is more important to a teams success that the QB and Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the game today. An offense that good can mitigate an average or bad place kicker. If your offense is average to bad, then you better have a world class defense in order for your place kicker to make a big difference. Mahomes has overcome a very average defense and he likely could overcome a poor kicking game.

Mahomes has a secret weapon called Kelce. Really good tes baffle a defense.
