Are you trying to tell me all the playoff games he ****ed up was because his team wasn’t superbowl caliber? How about all of those AFC championship losses at home? This is one of the shakier arguments so far

Here is who you claim Tomlin won against without Ben
    2019
    27-3 W Cinci- 2-14
    24-17 W Chargers- 5-11
    27-14 W Miami- 5-11
26-24 W Indy- W/O starting QB, Pick 6 and still really close 7-9
    17-12 W Rams- 9-7
    16-10 W Cinci- 2-14
    20-13 W Cle-6-10
    23-17 W AZ-5-10

So Tomlin coached a team without his franchise QB for a season and won 1 game against a team that finished 1 game above .500. Not a stellar performance if you aske me. The D carried last year and scored enough defensive TDs to win some games we should have lost. Lets be honest he should have won all those games with our rosters compared to theirs, there is not a team we beat that had a better all around roster than we did last season. We did lose however to the Jets and Browns who's rosters are no where near our talent level. The Steelers should win those games even with a backup QB. Its Tomlins job to make sure he has a capable backup ready to go incase of a situation like last season. Ultimately its his fault that we had a Duck starting at QB for some of last year. So lets not get all crazy about Mikey winning games without his HOF franchise QB against teams that were no good. It was another AVG year by an AVG coach. Just felt really good at the time because we needed something to feel good about after Ben was gone and we started 0-3.

They are for sure but they have been decimated by injury's since like week 1 on both sides of the ball. I guess I really just like his intensity and desire he has.

TOMLIN has desire and intensity too. We need an offensive mind that’s the name of the game today.

I agree that Cowhers playoff record leaves a lot to be desired..........But......... He only had a franchise QB for 2 years and won the SB in one of those. Now we could argue it was his fault he didn’t draft one earlier.

That's correct, those AFC championship losses meant they weren't ready to win, getting closer but not there yet. When they were a championship team, Bill retired and MT stole 2 more trips to the big show, and hasn't done jack poop since and never will. At least Bill was getting to those afc champ games, MT cant even get by the 1st round.

Tomlin's desire and intensity is like ours as fans. Excited pregame, pounding your chest after a win or a big play. Nothing in the middle, if its going bad he looks like a deer in the headlights, nothing between the ears to fix or adjust just like when he is deciding on what to do with clock when it comes to managing the game. Kinda what I suppose I look like when they show math problems on the Big Bang Theory no clue what any of it means because I don't have a degree in physics.

Can’t argue with that lol. Tomlins team that he built has been to 1 championship game that wasn’t close.

again, to be fair Ben is to blame on some of those losses. He ain’t the greatest playoff qb either lol

It’s great to have non losing seasons but deep down inside I feel we probably won’t win another with him. My mind was slowly changing this year but then I saw the injuries and realized I was right lol.

tomlin to me is still a great coach but he is along the lines of all those current coaches who have won one and just kinda fade away lol.

Still though besides Patriots most teams have had down seasons then really good ones and eventually win one, then fade away. Tomlin won one and kept this team standing upright year after year. It sucks that we didn’t win in 2010 because I didn’t think it would be 10 years of mediocrity afterwards.

Ben certainly shoulders some of the blame but Franchise QB will always be more important than a HC. Look at NE this year. We should have gotten rid of TOMLIN years ago and given Ben a shot at number 7. Now we are screwed.

He's a players coach. Players will always play for him and compete and thus never have a losing season. He leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to X and O's. He's perfect for everyone but Steelers fans. Rooneys want parity and he will keep the team good enough but never good enough to win Championships. Other team fans like him and will point to his record to say how lucky we are to have a great coach. Then his teams fold in the playoffs which they want as well because they aren't Steelers fans. He's perfect for everyone but Steelers fans.

Anyone who the team thinks is HC worthy from available candidates. I would personally prefer an Offensive minded coach In this day and age. But literally anyone who is HC worthy deemed by the Rooney’s would be a welcome change

Part of me feels that having some bad seasons can truly re tool this team to be a legitimate contender in the postseason. I don’t know lol

I would bring in 2 good coordinators who used to be head coaches like a Norv Tuner type. Then that'll take the load off of Mike who's pretending to be a coach. It seems the more he yaps the worse the team plays. Let's go back to how it used to be when he stayed out of the way. He can bring his pom poms out of retirement and go raw raw again.

Being a head coach is like being a president. You’re only as good as the people around you. If Coach T cannot see the how weak some of his coordinators and coaches are then he needs a wake up call

Isnt he the one who brings them in? Proves that he has no clue, he still hasn't replaced Cowhers caliber type of coaches. Butler just became a joke of just going with blitz after blitz, all that did was make Josh even better , it turned into a practice.

I would take Ben over Peyton everyday & twice on Sundays. Even Eli was better under pressure.

Yep. Tomlin doesn't get credit for the defense. Just when we f*¢k it up.

Edit: i wail about him taking so long to rebuild the defense. Some bad draft choices out of his corner.

He liked his franchise running game.

Also he only had a shot at Brees, the only qb available who turned out decent. Kordell was his franchise choice.

    Some of Ben's career stats:
Passer rating: Regular season: 94.1; Playoffs: 86.5
TD percentage: Regular season: 5.1%; Playoffs: 4.4%
Interception percentage: Regular season: 2.6%, Playoffs: 3.6%
TD to Int ratio: Regular season: 1.96 to 1; Playoffs: 1.25 to 1 (this is a pretty important one)
Seasons with > 90 passer rating: Regular season 14 out of 17 seasons; Playoffs: 4 out of 10 seasons

I'm not hanging the lack of postseason success entirely on Ben, but the reality is that the drop off in his play in the postseason has not been helpful.

In the regular season half the time you are playing a team under.500. In the playoffs you never play a team under .500. Sooo maybe there is no drop off. Not a straight comparison

Let’s not forget Tomlin played Dupree and TJ Watt on the opposite side that they both played in college. They both looked horrible until they decided to switch them. How hard is it to say hmmm maybe they played on the other side in college for a reason. I think Dupree played out of position 2 years and Watt one.
