It seems he smoked one to many and has been playing checkers for way to long..I do however have a bunch of playbooks he can have if he wants...Way to much talent to not be able to run..Way to much talent to not be able to convert on short yardage.. This Team should ring up the score board like a bad slot machine, and week after week I got to watch a bad slot pay out 2 dollars it has to be better than that..

That easy, eh? Agree that they need to try some different formations and some OL realignment, but let's be honest here. Even with the Ravens OL injuries that line and scheme were built for run, run, and tun some more, and that with the focus on a highly athletic running QB, with 2 RB's (and back ups) that make our RB's look putrid.

Taysom Hill has proved over the years he can run those plays, and this has lead to a successful few weeks as a starting QB. What has Dobbs ever done in the NFL that you assume he is on the same level of talent as Taysom? Am I against them putting in some plays for him...no, and indeed they may work...but we are still working with the same freaking line, that is the issue. Dobbs may be quick and elusive enough to get some yardage..but I think the plays would be so generic that D's would spy him and take those things out of the way very quickly..perhaps it would work for a half, even a game...but give a good D coor some vid to review and he shuts that down quickly with our aging line and lack of talent.

 

Of course it will work and of course with time and film it can be shut down..Right now we just need schemes that will work so what,,, then plan for the schemes that try to stop it ......To me it's simple CHESS just stay at least 1 move ahead and right now we playing checkers.. Come on man a NFL COACH has to be better than that... A great OC be like 5 or 6 moves ahead...

 

I agree that things can and need to change, I strongly disagree that we have 'to much talent'. We had some decent tun games early in the year, but nothing suggests that we were dominant, and I am OK with that as this team is definitely set up as a pass first and foremost offense. There were a couple of games Conner was actually looking decent, but they never really a running game established.

The last 2 games showed some very disturbing shortcomings, not only in our O, but in some fashion the simplicity of the opposing D. The WTF's have a great front line, and certain times put pressure on Ben (especially 2nd half), but is was almost like they were toying with us, they said they knew the plays and it seemed the plan was to hold the line back enough ti get the arms up to deflect passes. Not rocket science, but really successful. More alarming the Ben just kept doing the same thing and no adjustments were ever made. I do not disagree with your post on changes, every team hits a rut and lack of practice due to all the distraction has not helped.

 

Ravens did same thing. Played 5-7 yard cushion and just let Steelers beat themselves with drops.

 

You just clowning and of cours Single High wold help this week and could have been a gold nugget in sub packages but we aint ready..Thats the point .Prepare for all eventual out comes and the further you are ahead of the game the better that's all I do...

 

Maybe use the I formation a bit more and utilize the 3 million dollar man, then we can see a play action used. To much shotgun although its Ben's fav.

They have other players to run some trick stuff they don't need to give Dobb's a hat.

When Diggs started going off we could have got Minkah in the box as a robber if we could play the single high.. Again our only guy who is really good deep and as the robber has to play deep... This is just bad football as we have a guy capable of playing deep at a good enough level to get Minkah in the box .. Minkah even stated games back that he hates playing the deep Safety because he is to far from the action to impact most plays ..Ray Ray can play the deep Safety all we need to do is do it ..

 

And about the running game again it is way to predictable and has zero creativity .. Conners,Snell, Mcfarland, and Samuels are all good runners ,but even if we had the best run blocking OL in the world they cant run if the D knows the play and knows the hole ..Changing Formations is the easiest way to get creative again the T will work Split Backs will work the Power I will work ..The best way to run a quick passing game is the Diamond and 1 and we use Samuels as a WR Conners as a WR and Claypool as a runner on the Jet stuff so put those guys in a few Diamond and 1 packages and now you have the ability to run 5 Wide or any Multiple RB package you want from the same group of guys..

It's really Football 101 if the D brings in more pass Defenders then you shift to multiple RB'S and run to multiple holes and mix in some play action ..If the D brings in run stoppers then you shift to the Diamond and 1 use the screen game as your running game and mix in deep routes and quick slants ...Switch the single WR'S to get the match up you want ..

This would be a perfect hurry up Offense get to the line see what you like then shift to what you need and once you catch a D with the wrong package you just stay in that set and beat the crap out of them until you score or they call a time out ..Example the D sees the 5 wide Diamond and 1 and goes dime with 1 LB to stop the passsing game then boom you go to your Tee,Power I, Split, Brocken I and keep pounding running inside outside counters,traps , quick hitters, pitches ,sweeps bring it all to any and all the RB'S ..My bread an butter would be the power sweep from the T with 2 lead blockers from the RB spot and a pulling guard, and the power Iso with 2 lead blocking RB'S and a pulling Guard and of course there is PA passes from these 2 plays as well.. Rule 1 for me I never called a run that didn't have a pass play off of it ..Rule 2 is I would never use a passing set that couldn't shift to a running play or have a effective screen game from it..

 

Maybe Ben should as the opposing defense for feedback on our run game after the game is over. It appears they have plenty of answers for our run game.
