Its clear now that Ben is either gun shy or afraid to take a hit, he continues to do the same thing over and over.

Roethlisberger will not stand in the pocket and deliver the ball downfield, its just a constant barrage of 2 yd passes that the opposing defenses are sitting on.

At first i blamed Fitchner but it seems like Ben won't let a play develop or a receiver to get open downfield, he just gets it and its out in 2 seconds 90 percent of the time.

Today was when the **** hit the fan with the passing game, Washington just crowded that ten yard area eliminating the YAC yds and we never adjusted

The Steelers and especially Ben must change this strategy and stand in the pocket and look downfield or scoring is going to be very difficult because that offensive game plan has been figured out.

Let's blame what's really wrong with the team.

Ben is very far down on the list of current problems.

The batted balls need to come to an end. Fitchner, Ben or Canada?

    I mean,

How many QB hits has he taken over the course of his 17+ year career?! For me, it has to be at least 2,200. Bear in mind I said hits, not sacks.

As NB stated, Big Ben is the least of my concerns. The Offensive Play Calling though has been very suspect. Never mind them, an aging Offensive Line is also a major problem. Here is where we get into the biggest issue; injuries.

    Too.

    Many.

Its a valid point though. Is he playing scared? Is he playing so that he has a next year or two or is he playing the caution to the wind and leave it all out there. If he is trying to avoid hits and injury there are better ways to use the weapons and schemes for that because right now he is still taking hits but not making big plays while taking them. Why is taking snaps under center suddenly so hard? Why not PA with his patented pump fake. He is having a great year but this isn't the guy who said I dont care how bad the Packers run defense is im throwing the ball and did it until they lost. Its more like I'll throw the ball but at the end of the day I want to walk with my kids.

Out of all the quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, to say Ben Roethlisberger is scared to get hit is comical. Just for the record, I don't think any quarterback enjoys getting hit. I think it would be wise to avoid getting hit if they can. Lmao

Think he doesn't want to get hit because of the elbow. When ever he takes a good :poopy: he gets up holding it. ( meant shot but typed this instead and cracked me up)

You do make some good points. At the end of the day I don't know which of them are in Ben and which are on scheme.

It kills me the QB sneak isn't in our playbook

    I miss the playaction.

But I also know Ben's sacks are drastically down. And I think most agree, a healthy allbeit timid Ben, is probably still better than the alternative.

The carefree gunslinger days are likely over. The live by the sword die by the sword days are gone.

I still feel good with Ben at the helm. Sure, batted balls are a big problem. So is deep ball accuracy. But so are WR drops.

As I've said, Ben may have issues but in the grand scheme of things, we have a few more glaring problems.

I thought Ben played well again today.

I do not blame his for that crazy play calling at the goal line; that I thought is what ultimately cost us the game.

I didn't see Ben holding his elbow this game. Also not ready to put getting the ball out quickly on Ben yet. His deep throws I'm not sure about though, seems like the defenders are getting there in time. Maybe he is saving the arm for the playoffs. Watching the other old man play in Tampa looks like they only got so many deep throws per game in them anymore.

We have a thread complaining that Ben doesn’t hold the ball long enough :lolol:

Sorry, OP, not picking on you, I just find that funny.

Ben has had too many balls batted down at the line of scrimmage this year. I think his throwing motion is different since his elbow injury.

there was a time when alot of fans were complaining that ben was always throwing deep passes. now alot are complaining thats he's not. i think back in the day he had very good reciever who would go get the deep pass all he would have to do is chuck it up there .... now i feel like we dont have that.... claypool maybe at the most.

I know he wasn't holding his elbow in this game, I meant in previous games when he landed on it.

It's not Ben's fault. Aside from the batted balls, which are legitimately illogical and make no sense, Ben has been fantastic and was really good most of yesterday.

Roethlisberger’s passer rating this year is above his average and his TD to Interception ratio is very good.

I don’t like him personally, but as a player, he’s not our problem

lets see.. he just came off elbow surgery last year, and his knees got jacked up a couple games ago....so, yeah, i dont think he really wants to take any hits right now. i think his knees are way worse than we have been told

The playcalling is predictable. Even the dopes calling the game yesterday were wondering why he doesn't try the same play, but to the left.

Definitely dopes calling that game. They had McDonald returning punts.

It was just a matter on time the batted balls are going to catch up. Washington football team with Sweat, and Young is a good front D line. I have no problem with the quick passes, but with Washington and Claypool some deeper routes at some point are going to be more required.

Also any sign of a running attack would be nice.

    The batted balls are the result of the constant short, and shorter passes. The shorter passes have a lower trajectory from the QB and more chances of getting batted down. On his longer passes they are seldom batted down. Also in past Ben moved in the pocket more and even took longer drops which could prevent some of the batted balls;
