From the screen to real life. First woman to play in Power 5 college game.

And for the clowns, the short kick was on purpose :lolol:

Wow! Never thought I'd see that. She must have to dress in the bathroom or some other small room.

I have trouble seeing the female sector of our species being able to compete with men in sports. I've watched the female golfers on the LPGA Tour and they just don't have the power to keep up to the men. Maybe Tennis, I could see those sisters keeping up with some top men.

Her kickoff went about 30 yards. So Vandy didn't have a soccer player from the men's team available? If you take it for what it is worth, a publicity stunt, then that's fine.

I think it’s fine for the position she is filling but obviously you aren’t going to put a woman at LB.

    It was supposed to.

She didn't run down to help cover the kick though. Don't they usually run down a bit just in case they have to be the last line of defense?

Maybe I'm spoiled by that kid the Steelers had a few years back.

If she's the best person for the job, then I'm glad she got it. I just hope it wasn't more virtue signalling.

    It was intentional squib

Possibly, but remember the hell McEnroe got when he refused to call Serena the best tennis player of all time and separated the genders? He said it is a different game, and it is, 3 set to 5 set is huge. I think Serena in her prime could have given most of the men on tour a run for the money.

There will be no answer to that, but the opposing team fielded the ball before it went out of bounds, which of course would have been a penalty. Maybe planned, or not?

There are men who never played football, and were successful coach's. Men have coached women in BB, I am convinced women can coach men as coaching is not a skill based on gender, but rather recognition of how certain things are done, and instructing that procedure.

I believe it was a squib kick to avoid the embarrassment of a 40 yard kick that should have been a normal kickoff to the end zone. Like I said, it was a publicity stunt, to gain attention for a winless team.

There is a need for good onside kickers. Maybe they can compete in that arena. When i see them making 50 yard fgs I'll say they are on par.

I think the real question, as a coach, why are you squibbing the ball coming out of halftime ?

Their coach spoke about that in the link I posted but I don’t really buy that reasoning. I think more likely she hadn’t had much practice yet and rather then risk her getting killed on a run back, they squib kicked it.

I seriously doubt if they keep her on the team that they will have her do that every kick, I think they just want to work on their kick coverage with her on the field.

I hope she plays again and they give her a chance to kick off properly and attempt a FG.

Vanderbilt fired their head coach the next day.
It probably had more to do with their winless record than the kicker.
