Hell no! Didn't really give a crap about being correct. I'm laughing my ass off at picturing me jumping up to get a calculator so I could be correct in a dumb joke.

Could be a system not meant for Mason. On the other hand it has been stated on this board before,... Ben is not throwing down field with accuracy. Most of his throws have been quick throws behind the line mixed in with a few 5-8 yard passes that sometimes go for longer on the run after catch.

Fair post. In the end I want to see the guy do well I liked him coming out of college. Just not seeing the development you would expect at this point.

I too , somehow...Thought his arm was better...He " lobs, and " guides " the ball " I'd what I see...You have to plant your back.foot, and let it rip...

I've coached kids when I was younger that had this problem where they tried to " aim " the ball...You have to pull your arm back and fire it!

Didn't see him play. In his defense, he had 0 time to warm up or get emotionally prepared to enter the game. Ben had left, and we certainly weren't expecting a turnover at that point. Gilbert had an entire week to prepare. Mason had 30 seconds.

Steelers made Gilbert look good. Up until they started coming after him.

When they showed Ben going in I thought to myself what is going to happen if the defense gets the ball on a turnover and Ben is in the locker room? Naw would never happen but of course it did.

Rudolph is almost as ridiculed as much as O'Donnell. And Rudolph never threw 2 INTs in a Super Bowl vs Cowboys.

fun facts. I posted a poll about a year ago regarding Mason here.

2/3 of posters thought of Mason as bacically as a career backup. 1/5 thought he's not good enough.

Only a whopping 12% at that time saw him as starter potential.

Now that doesn't give me warm and cozy feelings such as i also have my concerns he can be more than an nfl backup or play at all. I also was supportive of the pick initially.

I think it's clear the Steelers do need to draft another qb high if not this year than the next

Well I once supported a guy named Dick Shiner. But then I was just a teenager.

A draft pick qb would be much cheaper with the same upside imo.
I think I just like the long ball qbs having experienced Terry & Ben. Mason does well in the check down aspect but hesitates when facing 50-50 chances downfield.

If you read pre-draft scouting reports on Rudolph, we saw last year what they had to say about him coming out of OSU to be true. Average arm, intelligent, coachable, good work ethic, stands tall in the pocket, good pocket presence, throws a catchable ball, throws a nice deep ball. Struggles to throw into tight windows. Was used to throwing to great WR's against weak DB's. Didn't anticipate receivers getting open/waited until they had clear separation. Spotty accuracy, sketchy pocket presence (this was really apparent last year), lacks escapeability, has to learn how to work under center. We saw all of those elements, actually.

MR needs a lot of work to become a reliable NFL starting QB. Some of the knocks against him can't be taught, in my opinion. Ultimately, I think his fate is as a reliable NFL back-up but I hope he proves me wrong.

I still think Mason can step in a do well. They did everything they could last year to handcuff him and only make him a game manager only. The game plan would need to be tailored to his strengths and let Mason be Mason. All the short passes he had last year he was being asked "When are you going to start taking the bigger shots down field?" When he was in college he was criticized for not throwing enough short passes.

Rudolph never led us to the playoffs. Yes I'm taking O'Donnell's side on this one

Some people forget that Hastings and Holliday didn't do #14 any favors in that Super Bowl.
