A Steelers player has COVID

What Nick Farabaugh (posted by SFC) isn't considering is that rapid tests usually have more errors.

If fans were upset by false positives causing their players to not practice most of the week, imagine what happens when players are held out on game day.

(I don't know what tests they are using, so I don't know the actual false positive/false negative rate for rapid vs. next day tests.)

 

Not good. I remember seeing a tweet that Vance was flying to Dallas with the team and thinking, that’s a good sign. Afterwards I thought, it may not be such a good thing to have him travel with everyone else. Even if he didn’t have Covid, he was sick and you don’t want anyone else catching it... Especially with everyone tightly packed on a fairly long flight.

Him and Ben are good friends too, which is obviously another crappy layer to this.

 

I guess we can also hope for a false positive?

not a doctor but what I have heard is that the rapid tests are unlikely to have a false positive, much more likely false negative. They are not as good at detection in non-symptomatic / low viral loads.

That is my first thought, that I hope McDonald comes through this well.

My second thought is that I'd be shocked if no other Steelers get it. You have to assume that was the illness that kept him out of practice Friday and that the negative tests were wrong. That means he traveled with the team and played with it.

It was Vance...they're probably going to bring Rader up and not Gentry. Don't know why Gentry is up and not him anyway. They get nothing from Gentry on ST and he's not as good of a blocker.
