Burrow could look like a HOF QB next week if Gilbert can gash us in his first ever NFL game. Will be interesting to see the posts on what the predict the score Bungle game will be.

The whole sequence of that confuses me.

1st thing you do, have Ben go to the line, and hard count them to death, if they don't move, call time out with 1 second on the play clock.

2nd Thing you do. Take a breather in the time out, decide to kick the Field Goal, or if you don't run your best play for a yard.

The whole rushed play call to Conner to the outside was a complete fail. I don't blame Conner but it was doomed from the start.

Especially when you have 3 Timeouts.

If executed properly Decastro seals the outside Mac seals the inside and Conner is well into the 2nd level before they touch him and he has the 1st down. But as I said earlier in the thread that play was doomed at the snap Hawkins and AV got caved in well before DD and Mac got moving and Conner was almost nailed behind the line

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see it with our personnel... Have mentioned it in years prior myself along with you... However it ain't happening. They have a hard enough time with simple situational smash mouth football much less getting crazy with it. I am surprised we haven't seen the T in the league especially after the wildcat caught fire for a minute.

seems like the main issue vance went right by the guy he should have blocked. then it would have been conner vs the linebacker in the hole

This time round I guess you could say we need a guy who really knows how to pound it.

If they don't make the first down, the clock stops with the turn over in possession. So, putting the game in Ben's hands is also not a terrible option. Unlike against the Ravens, where they punted near the end of the game because they were backed up at their own endzone. In this situation, they are near the Cowgirl's endzone. So, a turnover on downs isn't terrible (risk) when the game winning play - a first down (reward) is there for the taking. So, if you're going to do it, I completely agree with doing the hard count first, then make your best play. The ineffectual run, was not their best play.

Something else to ponder, Charlie Batch said the mistake was to be in shotgun. Had they been under center, I wonder how much of Ben's knee injuries limited that option?

Take your fastest player and hand off the ball and they run the other direction. Run around the field to kill clock

Dang I never thought of a long play Safety to kill the clock .. This is actually a very solid ideal in that position .. Heck we can design it ..The T fake dive left to FB or the middle of the T then pivot right fake dive to left HB on the right side a old school crossbuck if you will.. While that is going on RB 3 goes deep floating out left with hands up looking for a swing pass as soon as the 1st fake is executed the he starts back right..He is waiting for the second fake to get the pitch pitch right over the Center Guard area..Now he got all the opitions if he see a lane turn up if he see the edge then go get it if nothing after a quick glance then get to getting kill the clock take a Safety ...

I believe they were 6/7 on 4th down conversions this year. The problem was not the decision to go for it, the problem was the stupid play selection.

We use to do that in back yard football, problem was I was the fastest one on my team (usually me and another fat kid), everyone on the other team was faster than us..it never seemed to work.

Conner is listed at 6' 2" 232, hell Walter Peyton couldn't have picked up that yard.
    The OL missed their blocks.

sorry but this thread is a non starter. No one with that call and that blocking scheme would have picked up that yard. End of story.
