Ravens made a deal to improve defensive line . Chiefs sign Bell .. Should we be looking to make a deal ?

Yes. Lot of teams selling at this point and we need an ILB.

Depends on the cost of course, but yea I agree. The Steelers have really put a lot into this year, there really is not a lot out there on the FA list..couple of guys maybe. The biggest thing I see is depth, all the guys are really unproven and while we know there will be a drop from Bush, one would hope they are at least considering whatever options that are out there.

My main concern is depth. Hopefully Spillane pans out but we are ridiculously thin at this position.

The deal this cat needs to make is for another consonant in his last name. How in the f#$k do you have three vowels in a row.

Regarding the Trade Deadline, November 3rd at 4:00 P.M. is the final Day and Time. After that, no more trades. I hope Spillane is the answer here.

Nevermind Spillane though. I really want UG3 to seize this opportunity. His athletic ability is very similar to Devin Bush's overall.

    UG3:

    40 yard dash: 4.46s

    Vertical jump: 39.5″

    Broad jump: 10′ 6″

Bench press of 225lbs: 20 reps

    3-cone drill: 6.94s

    Devin Bush:

    40 Yd 4.43

    Bench 21 reps

    Vertical 40.5"

    Broad Jump 124"

    3 Cone 6.93 sec

The biggest hurdle for UG3 will be if he has shown he is ready. However, if Spillane proves worthy, that is one less problem to deal with.

With all those numbers, Gilbert hasn't been able to get a spot on the active roster. That doesn't bode well for him suddenly taking on a bit role.

I cannot remember and to tired to look it up. Was Gilbert injured last year? He looked like a decent FA PU, but for some reason I seem to think he had a lot of injury problems. Maybe not, but that is one thing that keeps the young guys from advancing.

Gilbert was our sixth round pick from Akron. He was great in Preseason and was very good in Special Teams for the first couple weeks of 2019. His season ended though sadly with a back injury.

Gotta be objective and just say heck of a move by the Ratbirds.

My blood pressure would definitely even out if Colbert and company bucked tradition and added a significant replacement for Bush mid season. If by some fantasy like scenario we could get Deion Jones for a 1st Round Pick I’d be all for it.

Is that not more to do with special teams though? Spillane is better on ST so he was getting the hat on game day.

UG3 was never going to get snaps when Bush was available. You could be right of course, but he may do fine as well.

re Nguakwe that’s a good move for the Ravens, they have no outside pass rush and can’t get pressure without blitzing. Nguakwe changes that to an extent, this is a big upgrade for that defence.

Im not sure the Steelers need to trade for somebody. If they feel good about Spillane / UG3 / Allen then there is no need to. Terrell can play closer to the line as well and they have Davis for SS if needed. No point trading for another player unless they are a significant upgrade over what they have

No. They will need all the picks for next season. Can't knee jerk and expect to get a player like Fitzpatrick. Maybe get a player to the PS.

He was last week and played very well. I feel its his job at this point. Gilbert III will see some snaps.

Coaches not playing UG3 tells me that he may not be as good as some wish him to be. I'd love for him to get more engaged since I played for Akron (back in late 70's) but there must be a reason Spillane is the guy now. I figure playing well in JV preseason games last year didn't tell the whole story on UG. We'll see.

Good move by the Ravens. Ben's cap number is $41,250,000 next season. I can't imagine we will be signing any good free agents.

I mean, UG3 got injured early in his Rookie Year. That cost him quite a bit of experience; namely Special Teams. Great Special Teams performance is a good indicator for backups to play for Tomlin. UG3 came on strong for the team last year. Had he continued, I would imagine he would have finished Top 3 on the team in Tackles.

Moats sure seems to like Spillane. I will be very surprised if the Steelers trade for an ILBer who is more than depth for STs. I think the Steelers roll with Spillane and UGIII.
