Follow what hockey or baseball did. Shorten the season. Gather the troops and find a bubble. Not feasible? Play 7 on 7. Not working out? Take the top teams in the divisions for sudden death playoff. Still no good? Give the trophy to Brady contingent on him going to the XFL.

    Covid isn't complicated?
I started to type an example the NFL might face, but I couldn't even figure out how to word it, let alone a solution.

I didn't say Covid isn't complicated. I said navigating a bad-case scenario and worst case scenario is. Isolated incident vs. outbreak. Decide how to handle each before greenlighting the season. Not complicated.

I'm sure shortening the season is on the table. I wouldn't jump straight to that because 1 team out of 32 screwed up.

Let me break the scenarios down for you..

    A) Reschedule two games for the Titans. That means they would have to cram and play 13 games/weeks in a row. While their competition in the AFC would be on 11 games with a bye week in hand. That means their potential playoff competition could have up to 3-4(if they get a bye) weeks off in that span while they are cramming 13-14(first playoff game) games in a row.

    B) Titans could forfeit the 2 games and get healthy. They were going to miss some key starters against the Steelers. Right now they would be tied in their division with the Colts at 3-1. They could be in the lead after this weekend or 1 game back depending on if the Colts lose. The games they forfeited weren't against anybody in division. They would still control their destiny. They would keep their bye. This scenario only sucks for them for playoff seeding. But 1) Home field doesn't mean much with limited fans and 2) They could cram 13 games in and still not get better seeding. If I was a Titans fan I would want the weeks off, bye in hand, and take my chances at division vs. cramming 13-14 games in a row.

    C) NFL is going for this option. They know rescheduling 2 games for the Titans is impossible and only going to screw them long term. So they are going to meet in the middle and completely **** the Steelers over. Forfeit Bills and still play the Steelers. It's bull****.

I say either you make them forfeit both or have to play cram both games in which I just broke down would be completely stupid on their part.

No, it hasn’t. Not remotely, no even a smidge and flu doesn’t leave the kind of damage Covid can

But you do you :thumbs up:

Yeah, this is bs. If Titans are found to have disregarded protocol then both games should be forfeited. No way should Steelers be forced to pay for another teams transgressions while Bills get a freebie. Make an example of the Titans and put all teams on notice.

"A day after their facility was shut down, a group of #Titans' players worked out together despite being told by the league not to, per @PaulKuharskyNFL. The NFL and NFLPA have been investigating if the club broke protocols."

The players did something they were told not to. Why is the league investigating if they broke protocol? This is as frustrating as @Formerscribe starting a grab-the-popcorn argument.

They broke protocol. It's done. Time to wipe and get off the pot, NFL.

titans broke protocol while preparing for the steelers, therefore the forfeit should go toward our game and grant our original bye back.
    simple enough said than Goodell

They should be punished but I don't think the NFL looks good in this either. They created a lot of pressure on the Titans to ignore the distancing order by not just postponing the game. The Titans thought they were going to have to play Monday or Tuesday so of course they wanted to practice.

Ding ding. Exactly why when the positives kept rolling in and they had to cancel the Steelers game. They should have been forced to forfeit 2 games and everybody on lockdown for 2 weeks to get it under control. There wouldn't have been all this mystery about when they were playing again and trying to sneak practice in. Now they have a lingering issue because they failed to properly address it. Will the Titans be able to play next weekend? Who knows at this rate. The positive test haven't stopped and need 2 weeks to quarantine. NFL screwed this up bad.

I've been totally against making the Titans forfeit because COVID spreads quickly and the source could have been by pure accident or happenstance but after seeing they've been reckless, screw it - give the Steelers the win. And reinstate the original bye week.

Only problem with a forfeit is that neither teams players get paid. It was already negotiated that if games were cancelled due to Covid issues that no game checks would be handed out.

That's incredibly stupid on the NFLs part but I'm not surprised. I get if the season ends or shortened but if you have to cancel a game here and there to keep the season afloat. Pay them and stop being stingy.

The problem would be why should the Steelers lose a paycheck because of what the Titans did?

Where was that stated? If cancellations were already on the table then why haven't cancellations been part of the discussion?

The Steelers shouldn't lose a paycheck. Winner of forfeit gets paid...by losing team.

I’m sure theY will survive. The point is I’m sure they’re not going to be happy about losing that money considering the circumstances.
