I can say I have a plan in place to deal with some contingency but if that contingency happens and I don't enact my supposed plan then it is fair to question whether I was lying about having a plan in the first place.

Looks like part of the plan is not to forfeit games. Play the game at a different time slot also looks like part of the plan. The plan looks like they left themselves with some leeway on how/when to honor their contract with television. I'm sure they considered a shortened season when planning. Sometimes plans need to be changed. Their expanded roster plan to help the teams with Covid causalities keep on playing hasn't been put into effect yet. That option could change as well as other parts of their fly by the derriere plan.

Shortening the season could still happen.

I can't believe the shortsightedness of what I am reading from some of you. Do any of yinz really want Covid to run through the Steeler lockerroom?

The NFL indeed had a plan. They were going to postpone for a day or two. Then when more positive tests came out, they decided to be cautious and move the game to a later date. THIS IS KEEPING THE STEELERS FROM BEING EXPOSED!!!

For once I actually like what the NFL did. JC30 is a cancer survivor. I would prefer if he not get Covid. Cam Heyward is an asthmatic, I would prefer if he not get Covid.

I know we are all excited by the 3-0 start. But we can get through one week without football. Stop being knuckleheads.

Can't speak for anyone else, but you've got me all wrong if you are lumping me in with whom you speak of.

I'm all for precaution. I don't want any of us infected. I'd skip 4 weeks of watching football if it meant we were virus free. (Not 5...4 is my limit)

My gripe is with the lack of transparency and lack of a concrete plan. I still don't believe the NFL had a concrete plan for how they would handle games if there were an outbreak. If it was to postpone games, then fine. We should have known that. If there were to be forfeits, then let's have at it.

It's not about playing games with heightened risk factors, no no no. It's about being proactive with the scheduling protocol if the worst case scenario happened. Right now, they have established a terrible precedent. If there is a cluster, you may play as scheduled, play a day or two late, or play weeks into the future. And there is no way for you to know what that will be, because the NFL doesn't know either.

And once a cluster forms and the decision for a make up game is made, there is no plan for if that game gets cancelled. Will there be a forfeit then? Will the schedule be extended out to accomidate an even greater push back on the game? I could go on and on with the questions.

I want a healthy team. I just want the NFL to be better prepared to keep a fair schedule in place.

Well dang. Did not find out until now this has become our bye week. Stinks having no Steeler game to watch this week.

I think we were building some momentum. Bad timing IMO.

So, are you saying the league did or didn't have a plan?

Unfortunately, yes, I do have you lumped in with the knucklehead crowd on this one. Although, I do say that to you with respect, seeing how I find myself in agreement with you on 9 out of 10 topics.

The absolute worst precedent the league could set would be a forfeit. What would we then do if Tennessee can not play in week 5? Do they forfeit twice? Then what happens if another team gets Covid, but with fewer cases? If the NFL lets them play, the Tennessee Titan organization would feel that they were treated unfairly. No? There are a million different reasons why forfeits are a poor solution to the problem. What happens if both teams were to have a Covid outbreak? Would they both forfeit? If we start making teams forfeit games, this season would have a bigger asterisk on it than any of the Patriots Super Bowl wins.

Local Steelers coverage said right off the bat, that the Steelers were told that the game would be played during week 4. They were going to give it the extra day or so to be safe. Then when other positive tests were conducted, they decided to reschedule the game. That sounds like a logical plan to me.

I think two things are happening here. One, we are all happy with the way the Steelers season is going and we do not want our squad to lose momentum. Two, we are all happy with how the Steelers season is going and we do not want to miss out on watching the game tomorrow. Both are pretty selfish considering the circumstances IMO.

Three more Titans have tested positive, they now have 16 positives cases, 8 players 8 personnel. Their locker room is a superspreader.

So now the Steelers will play 3 straight road games at Tennessee, at Baltimore, at Dallas, they need to go 2-1 in that stretch.

I'm all for protection, even if it means shutting down the season. Where I see the current plan as being flawed is all the what-ifs.

What if the Titans or Steelers end up with another opponent who has an outbreak then they have to play an extra week.

What if there are 4 or 5 more outbreaks? They may not get lucky with the bye weeks like the Steelers/Titans reschedule.

What if they reschedule a couple games and then further out breaks force them to go the forfeit route?

I do not believe the forfeit route is even on the table. It is far more likely that we see cancellations.

Not playing this week is the right move. The issue is the fix this time is not going to work moving forward. The NFL seems to be taking an ad hoc approach and that is going to blow up in their face when more teams have players test positive.

PURE NEGLIGENCE! on their behalf. They should forfeit 2 weeks and get this under control.

Doesn’t seem as if the Titans were following protocol closely :hmm:

Raiders will be lucky if they don’t have an outbreak on their team, too.

Like Mahomes said, the teams that deal with this the best are the ones who take it seriously.

If this outbreak was caused by a Titan's player(or players) partying, then those players should be made an example of. The NFL can not operate in a bubble like the NBA and the NHL. Every player needs to take this seriously in order for this season to work.

Yeah okay :lolol: Let me guess he will be the only one on the team and game will go on. Belicheat is playing tricks. He's throwing the game to get film and not let them see Newton. So come playoff time it's well this time we have Newton. He's not slick.
