When one of the Titans personnel tested positive Saturday and they didn't postpone their game vs. the Vikings. That seems like a gamble to me.

It was a gamble. Maybe they are farming data for future use though I doubt it. Just a theory.

Who are the titans players with the rona? If they are starters or significant contributors, then I don't think this is out of line. If Ben or TJ came down with it, I bet some of you would be singing a different tune. Calling for the other team to forfeit is mind-numbingly stupid.

Here's what I would have done with the schedule to account for these types of possibilities:

Weeks 1-6: Every team plays 3 division games, and 3 other conference games
Weeks 7-8: Every team plays 2 non-conference games
Week 9: All teams on a bye
Weeks 10-15: Every team plays 3 division games, and 3 other conference games
Weeks 16-17: Every team plays 2 non-conference games
Week 18: Another bye week before the playoffs to sort out any final make up games

If there are cancellations in weeks 1-6, a week (or two) of non-conference games gets cancelled so that make up games can be played that week. Any postponed games that can't be played during the week of cancelled non-conference games get played during Week 9. Same for the Week 16-17 non-conference games.

This approach prioritizes division and conference games, and allows postponed division/conference games to bump non-conference games.

If only one person at the NFL was as smart as you. It's okay though @Roonatic knows and approves the wing it approach from the NFL. So it's all good. Not like they had months to plan for this.

Meh...taking all the players to Fiji is the best scenario I've seen on this board.

I didn't realize 50 Titans players had COVID. Sounds serious. You're right though, every time a team gets a single positive result, we should start pushing back games. That's completely operable on a large scale going forward and won't cause any scheduling problems at all.

Those may be the people who feel like masks aren't necessary but choose to wear masks by reason of compliance and not so much voluntarily.

There is no way the league can make this the standard that if 5 players test positive the game is cancelled. If this is the rule this season will end in April.

Watch the league change the rules in week 15 when 5 Steelers players test positive and they decide the Steelers will have to play the game without those 5 players.

Oh gee, I guess ya got me there with the "you're not a real fan" shtick. Some of you guys are pretty lame with trying to throw shade. You and S-DOLT need to up your game on shade-throwing cause it needs some work.

You chose to sidestep the question about what the threshold should be, which was a serious question. So I gave you a hypothetical scenario. Typical response from someone who knows they don't have a defensible position.

Yes, so you said, and now you're just repeating yourself, which really isn't necessary because it wasn't a noteworthy statement to begin with.To believe that nobody here cares about other teams is a myopic and incorrect viewpoint. Instead of coming off like the self-appointed spokesperson for steelers fans on here, try speaking for yourself. Maybe you should take your own advice and stop flattering yourself.

There should be no threshold. If you can't field a team, you lose. That's an extreme case though, which we surely don't have here. You cannot manipulate the schedule on any type of large scale like the NFL has done for this game. That's why they made changes to roster construction this year. If they wanted to start moving around games because a couple of players are sick, they should have built in more bye weeks and other scheduling flexibility. They made a plan, and on first chance to implement it, they didn't. Not surprising from the NFL.

I don't care what the plan would be, as long as it was made before the season. It wasn't. That's a problem.

The NFL put all responsibility on the teams to keep a cluster from happening. Obviously, the teams are responsible for that. But the NFL stopped at that point and greenlit the season without a concrete contingency plan. That's not up for debate. It's fact. Disagree? Then show me the plan outlined before the Titans-Vikings game.

And JUST NOW they have enhanced their protocols regarding how teams are supposed to mitigate and control acquisition of the virus in a memo sent out to the teams. They have no resolution yet to the Steeler-Titan game, but they are cracking down on the teams to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We all knew this would happen. And they aren't fining/blaming any Titan player/staff for contracting the virus irresponsibly. So their initial protocols weren't enough to avoid this.

SO WHY IN THE HOLY HELL DID THEY NOT PREPARE FOR THIS??? Beyond frustrating.

Does anyone know, beyond doubt, how the virus was contracted? Does anyone but you know that it was irresponsible?

It’s not about fielding a team it’s about keeping others from getting Covid and having a major outbreak.

I didn't say it was irresponsible. Neither did they. I'll get a link for you shortly, but I read that they are not fining anyone in the Titans' organization.

They could. That was one of the things they DID work out before greenlighting the season, fines for people breaking protocol. Let's spend time on punishments for people contributing to the worst case scenario but not what to do if it happens. Great job, NFL.

Follow the cheese. The merry-go round approach so far smells like a nielson rating war. More positive results & the NFL had to put their foot down on a Tuesday game.
