Why are built in bye weeks implausible? Seems to me it could have been easily done.

So what should the threshold be to postpone a game? 10? 20? 30? Just heard on SC, that have 2 more positives.

So what happens the next time and one or both teams already had their bye? What happens if it happens during the playoffs?

That's why this decision is galling. If the Steelers have positives in week 11, they won't get this kind of deference.

Either forfeit, or take your chances and play with those negative and no fever.

The team with the least positives gets to decide whether or not to make the other team forfeit. 0 positives? The game is played. Not difficult.

It’s not. How many would you build in? 2? 4? 6? Just keep playing until next Summer?

You can’t prepare that way when you don’t have any idea how many cases you will have.

That's why I keep bitching about the NFL not being prepared. Before the season was greenlit, they should have decided on how to handle this and made it abundantly clear to everyone what the plan was. Again, it is the ONLY scenario to be dealt with in regards to having a season. If you can't figure out a fair/effective way to juggle schedules, then it's off the table. Period. You're a multi-billion dollar corporation. Figure it out.

And it's been said already, but what about the SuperBowl? (if the season makes it that far)

Television (aka, money) won't be as flexible with you changing the schedule during the SB as it will week 4.

I wished some of these players / coaches would come out and voice their true feelings, abt this situation, but they are afraid to say anything against the Mighty NFL.... I just saw Tomlin speakin abt it said he was dissapointed in the decission, how voicefull of him , he's just another go along to get along guy....

They did have a plan in place, I think the testing tripped them up. I don’t think that’s working out the way they had thought.

I think the bigger implication is being missed by some of you, the season is in jeopardy of being cancelled if they can’t rely on testing to sort out the sick players.

Tell me again how many people that killed? How many it infected? Was it airborne?

*It was actually airborne but I don’t recall how easily spread but it definitely wasn’t as deadly as Covid.

Biggest understatement of the decade...and a great defense line.

Mr. Smith, your clients have been caught embezzling millions of dollars from their employer. Do you have anything to say on their behalf?

Yes, your honor. I don't think that's working out the way they had thought.

I would have considered a league wide bye every so many weeks (4, 6, whatever). Then if teams missed games they could be made up more easily. I don't see why that is a ridiculous thing to have done. It certainly makes more sense to me than simply not having a plan, as seems to be the case. As it is, I don't see any way that the Titans are going to be the only team that has players test positive, and now the precedent to put off the game has been set it is going to be a mess. They are going to have to either cancel games and not make them up or add weeks at the end.

And what happens to us if the Eagles and/or 49'rs come down with it in the next week? Do we take another week off? Do they relax their standards so that games get played? Or do they cancel the season because they weren't prepared for the ONE thing that could derail it? Postponing games is ridiculous and a knee-jerk reaction to a situation they weren't prepared for, and should have been.

It's really shameful that they didn't have a plan in place for something that is so expected. It's hard to believe it but the NHL actually handled this whole thing much better than the NFL has so far.

Forfeits are the last thing anybody wants, it would also probably mean loss of TV revenue.

Titans are getting off pretty soft however, there really isn’t any major consequences for them by the looks of it. In fact they are dealing with several injuries to important players and would have been missing the Covid positive guys too, they now get to regroup and get healthy. The Steelers are coming off worse, losing their bye.

It needs to be hammered home to all teams and personnel that they need to keep the virus out of their facilities. Did anybody see the video of the Raiders players at a busy public event in LV recently? If that is what players are up to then the season is in real trouble.

If the Titans are just the first in a line of outbreaks, and cancellations are the protocol every time it happens then the season is doomed. The logistics will very quickly become a complete nightmare.

They can voice their opinion all they want, it doesn't matter, the team isn't going to decide when the game gets played.

    That is a dangerous policy.
It would encourage teams to slow down or fake testing results, instead of actually dealing with the problem.

If no one else, you know Belichick would abuse that policy, regardless of the health risks.

The NHL played in a bubble, that's impossible for the NFL.

Apparently having any sort of plan was impossible for the NFL.
