According to SteelersDepot, McCullers has terminated his practice squad contract with the Steelers. Most likely, that means he will be signing with another team.

Doubtful that he gets signed anytime soon. If a team wanted him they could have claimed him.

I admittedly don't know how all of that works... Question however, do teams have a capped allotment of times per season they can poach from PS's? Kind of curious in a situation permitting such that his agent would suggest him terminating to go elsewhere?

The only requirement I know of is that they go to the active roster

That is a req I believe... And more than likely the reason there are no suitors to date... Kind of weird why he would self terminate hence my question.

With the number of injuries this year, it's not inconceivable that someone needs a nose tackle.

Hmmm interesting. So question is, would it be for a desired location and not have to mess with waiver wire positioning?

Absolutely but the fact "said" team in need didn't fleece from the PS is weird... Maybe a waiver wire competition thing idk. Best of luck big Dan.

Don't quote me on this, but maybe they think Dan is an improvement over anyone they have on PS.

If a team poaches someone from a practice squad, I believe they have to be on the active roster for 3 weeks..... maybe by terminating the contract himself, this is a way to avoid the 3 week minimum???

If he had stayed on our PS a team would have to put him in their active roster. Now that he is a FA he can be signed to any teams PS. He may just got to a different ps if he thinks there is a better path to a game day roster.

He has to be the guy who stuck around the longest despite not offering any actual value or potential.

I just saw the Bears signed him to their 53 man roster, not the practice squad.

Was he one of the protected players?

I didn't think a player had to ask permission to go to a team that was going to sign them to their active roster from the PS; unless they were one of the weekly protected players in 2020.
