I'll wait & see how he does against the better left tackles in the league. Personally I'd rather have Watt on the right side.

So so rolbs have a great game every now & then. Considering the system he is in & the talent around him this should be the norm for Stud Dupree. Jury still out...

To be fair, I think I outrushed Saquon just getting up to put the dishwasher on.

When he was 11 carries for -3 yards at one point it was a thing of beauty. Especially when we saw what he could do when he actually got into the open. Top notch run D.

He did what he was supposed to do against a weaker opponent. He dominated.

By the way, two of the supposed options to replace Dupree in free agency, Golden and Fackrell, played for the Giants last night. I thought I should point it out, because neither of them did anything worth noticing.

I guess hindsight is good after all, it just depends on who's using it.

Bud looked great last night. Conner got hurt even earlier than I could have imagined. Ben looked rusty but got better as the game went on.

    TOMLIN lives another day!

Right. I didn't see him do anything so earth shattering last night that it couldn't be game planned against. An unblocked LB better be disruptive, which he was. He was left flat footed and was driven backwards more than once too. We always knew he had speed, and that's what I saw out of him last night. I've seen him get owned too many times in 4 years to 'crown him' yet, as you said.

People acting like Bud had his first good game last night, smh.

He’ll go onto put up another great season and then it will be “yeah, but lets see how he does after he gets paid!”

Looks like Banner does have a torn acl. That is a tough break to win a starting NFL job after bouncing around, only to go down in the first game. They have apparently signed Jerald Hawkins from the Titans’ practice squad.

Why? Watt seemed to get even better once he and Dupree switched sides. Don't mess with success.

It isn't as if Dupree disappeared against good opposition last season. Yes, he had a good matchup last night, but he took advantage with a dominant performance.

I'm not sure what game you watched. Yes, he was unblocked once or twice. Other times, it just looked that way because he read the play and blew it up before the guy blocker could get to him.

Nothing in my post was hindsight, so please don't imply otherwise. I argued all along that keeping Dupree was the right call. I also wrote that neither Golden nor Fackrell would be worthy replacements. Last night just provided more evidence to support the point I have been making since well before they put the franchise tag on Dupree. Dupree was dominant. Golden and Fackrell were invisible.

I think I remember that debate at the time. To be fair, I don’t think anybody was saying that Fackrell, Golden or any of the other guys that were hanging around in free agency were better options than Bud from a football perspective. Bud had a great year last year and knows the system, keeping him was always the best thing for the team and I for one was delighted when they tagged him.

The reason that people were advocating moving on from Bud was purely down to the salary cap. It was looking very very tight for quite a while before the team did multiple restructures to clear the cap room to keep him. That also has consequences that should not be ignored, Ben’s $41m cap hit next year for example.

We will all be debating the same issue next off season when there are multiple valuable players hitting free agency.

Im on your side of the debate in that I think Bud is an important piece of that defence and keeping him was the right move but I also think it’s a bit disingenuous to imply that others were saying that the likes of Fackrell could replace him like for like. What people were advocating for was a trade off, a lesser player for cap room.

So your hind sight is evidence, my hindsight is, well...hindsight. Gotcha.

I watched the game against a team picked to finish with 4-6 wins, with a very favorable matchup for Dupree.
I will rewatch it when I get a chance and adjust my comments if needed. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong.

Lol...Watt had a year under his belt. The game changing 1st rounders get better in their 2nd year. Watt would be more disruptive on the blind side imo.

Dupree has showed up since last year & chances are that he has figured a few things out. In the right system like ours (heavy blitz) he is on track for allpro possibilities. Hell, if he plays like he did Sunday then he has earned $16mil a year. Like I mentioned earlier let's see if he can be a disruption consistently. Let's see him get a hand on Lamar or Mahomes.

No, plenty of people wanted to move on from him because of how disappointing he was his first 3 years and only felt he showed up last year for a payday.

I think Bud has finally arrived and they should see if it’s possible to keep him. Him and Watt would wreak havoc for years to come.

That would be nice. SB ring might sway his decision on compensation till Ben hangs it up? One can dream.

They were promoting those guys as viable replacements even though they are clearly significantly inferior players. Both of those guys were invisible Monday night even though the Steelers' line was struggling.

Keep twisting things to try to justify your point if you like, but my argument is not based on hindsight at all. I argued all along that the Steelers should keep Dupree. It is not hindsight to point out that for one game at least, he sure made it look like I was right.
