Dobbs is understandable on the short time frame, Gilbert I don't get does that mean Allen really is the back up ILB? McFarland as well isnt he on the return team?

 

Who is taking McFarland's spot? Maybe he isn't ready...

Yeah was expecting Gilbert and McFarland to be active as well.

 

Not sure what's up with Gilbert.. but McFarland was still in concussion protocol last I read.

Seems like an eternity since we played meaningful football. Pretty excited about this season's potential. Hopefully, reality comes close to the expectation.

I'm not expecting a lot from our offense tonight, but our defense has no reason to not be world class. It should be more disruptive and stingy than where it was at the end of last season. Tonight will be very telling as to what kind of team we'll have throughout the season. The offense will get better than whatever takes the field tonight. Barring injury, there are no excuses for this team to not be relevant at the end of the regular season.

 

Here's what I want to see tonight: Ben throwing darts, ready to play. O-line better than last year; it should help with Ben at QB. Do not be predictable on offense. You don't have to run it on second down, just because there was an incomplete on 1st down. It would be nice to have Ben under center, to better utilize play action. Just because there is a one on one matchup outside on 3rd and 1, you don't have to throw it deep. Get James Conner involved early, but take what the defense gives. Do not run the bubble screens when its 3rd and 6 or longer. Receivers run your routes past the sticks. Defense live up to your talent. Tomlin, I hope has them ready to play some FOOTBAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!

 

Guy I work with is a Niners fan and was sure that they and the Seahawks were going to battle it out for their division and g hen yesterday happened. I was upset because they were my defense and crapped the bed. Hopefully the Steelers show better than the Niners. Two sacks for TJ tonight.

 

Yeah, anything can happen. But 4 sacks tonight. TJ-2, Cam-1, and another for one of the db's. I'm going to be a grumpy gus if our D doesn't ball out tonight.

 

I love the confidence you guys have on this board. Granted you should be confident though. You have maybe the best Defense in the NFL going against a Giants team that has let’s face it sucked the last few years. This is a new young team though and I am sure it will be closer then most of you think. It will be interesting for you guys to meet Danny Dimes tonight. Good Luck with Barkley!!!!

 

Yep, it has been awhile. Last meaningful football steelers played was in January 2016. And whether or not tonight will be meaningful remains to be seen.

with that being said we should win this game and should do so comfortably.

 

It's strange that the NFL didn't have a better defensive showing across the board yesterday. Defense is usually a step up on the offenses at the beginning of the season. Offenses round into form and find their identity after defenses do...typically. And without the extra practice/prep time, I thought we were going to see far more low scoring games. I'm kind of miffed at that.

With that said, I'm still expecting a bad-ass defense to take the field for the black and gold. I will be very unhappy with sloppy play from our defense.

 

Not having DD is huge. I’m feeling the excitement of seeing Ben again not gonna lie
