Fowler: Steelers and Cam Heyward finalizing a four-year extension with a total value of $71.4-million, sources tell ESPN. Negotiated by @PerrettM of Element Sports.

let’s go! That’s big bucks but I’m glad he’s staying

He's a great captain and leader. A pro through and through. Good news.

I was expecting this deal to get done before the season started.

After agreeing to a new four-year extension, Cam Heyward is tied to Pittsburgh for the next five years for $75.1 million, per source.

Seems awful high for someone in there thirties. We shall see, I hope he is productive for the life
    of the contract?

This was one of those tough decisions. Do you really let a guy like Heyward walk? The guy has done everything right and has the makings of an All-Time Steelers defensive player.

He's earned the money. The Steelers have put alot of faith in him that he will continue to produce through his mid 30s.

Now what Heyward has to do, other than continue to produce at a high level, is to become that Joe Greene leader on defense and help deliver a 7th Lombardi.

Congrats to him. Cam earned that contract. I’m surprised at the length of the deal given his age but I’m glad they got it done. He might be one of those guys that can play at a high level well in to his thirties. Let’s hope so anyway.

Cam won't be waiting long after he retires to be inducted in Canton.

There are 11 guys at the position who make more. This is a bargain for the guy who PFF (yeah, I know) rated as behind only Donald among interior defensive linemen.

Somewhere beyond, Daddy Ironhead is smiling down on the Steel City. A great family legacy continues.

I like him but just can't see him playing at top level for 4 more years but I'll be pulling hard for him.

By the time his deal is over he will be way down the list of most expensive defensive linemen. He's already not even in the top 10 by pay. I don't think he needs to be one of the best throughout the deal for him to be worth it.

Glad to have him, the defense needs his play and his leadership but the end of that contract is going to suck.

Severe overpay... Most of the time he just seems like an above average guy to me...Not a game changer

He made All-Pro two of the last 3 years, and made 3 Pro Bowls.

Here is Heyward wrecking the best guard in the league in Quenton Nelson.

I personally do not know too many players with multiple All Pro awards that are above average. Cameron Heyward is far from it. I believe he has at least two more great seasons left in him.

He just needs to stay on the field & help the guys around him (Bush, Rolb, dline) play at a top level. Show up for the big games. Idk.
