Dobbs was released by the Jags.
    Nix by the Colts
    Davis by the Redskins
I believe Burns was axed before the Bears training camp got moving.

I thought Burnt tore his ACL. He was not any great shakes even with two good ACLs. Anyway, there is adding depth and then there is digging a deeper hole.....

    Hey thorn058.

No thank you. Maybe Nix. IMO, we are set. The most "complete" team on paper that I have analyzed in decades. Staying healthy, especially Ben, is the big key. Given that, I am not saying anything that you, or anyone else, is not aware of. Take care.

Eh, they’re not on the Steelers’ roster. None hurt. So, no loss.

These cuts effect the number of comp picks the Steelers get in the 2021 draft. They may actually end up with none now.

Yeah, I get that. My point was the Steelers are better without them on our roster.

they were all minor players that wouldn’t have netted much anyways. Signing Ebron probably negated any compensation those guys would have brought

They were due a fourth (Hargrave) and a sixth by the formula, even with the Ebron signing.

Not sure where this leaves them. You could deal with losing the sixth but losing that fourth rounder would be very annoying.

Edit: just checked and it looks like Sean Davis being cut has wiped out the sixth round comp pick. The fourth should still be in play as long as none of Hargrave, Finney, Vannet and Matakevich are cut by their respective teams.

Hargrave will bring something in but where are you getting this formula? It’s more tightly guarded than the nuclear codes. Thats why no one ever truly knows what teams are getting until it’s announced. Did that change?

They have made it much more transparent now. Dave Schofield has an article on BTSC that breaks it down from a Steelers POV if you search for it. this is before the recent cuts.

    Hey steel machine.

Yeah, any sport, that is the key, "Healthy". Specifically, in football, we all know that the QB is the main cog in the machine. For the most part, we go as Ben goes. What a difference that one player makes. The big issue is that we just do not have a "serviceable" QB behind him. They are all young, unproven and not reliable. At least not yet. As I have stated before, I am not putting a lot of confidence in any one of the three leading this team. Will they better this year? They should be. Typically, in any job, a person progresses with more experience. However, I just do not see Mason or Duck making a "dramatic" leap if we need either of them in a pinch. Lynch, I have no clue as I have never seen him play.

Look, we were very fortunate to get Ben Roethlisberger in 2004. Remember when Coach Cowher wanted the guard Shawn Andrews. Nothing against him. However, lets be realistic, Steeler football since 2004 in all likelihood would not have been this "prosperous" without Ben. He is a once in a while player to come along. It does not happen that frequently as we know. Fans would often speculate about what Steeler Football would look like without BR. I think we got a pretty good preview last year and it is not pretty. I think that the Steelers' Front Office has done a horrific job in preparing for life without Ben. Not just if Ben has any setbacks but once he retires. Very, very poor planning up to this point IMO by the Steeler Brass. Well for now, IMO, our season has all of its eggs in the Ben basket.

Actually it doesn't. The CBA changed and that loop hole was closed per another site. The only issue that may be a concern is if the total contract money applies or just the payed/bonus money does, which would affect the comp a bit, but not cancel them out completely.

OTC get the comp picks almost exactly right each year. There may be very minor details that aren’t known but the picks can be predicted pretty accurately at this stage.
