I’d agree Bud is best suited to a 3-4 and I could see him with the Jets / Giants or somewhere like that after the season. Changing scheme and likely becoming a much bigger part of said new scheme would be very risky for him. He benefits a lot from playing next to Cam, Tuitt, Watt, Alualu etc.

I would not rule out a pass rush needy 4-3 team like Seattle or Indianapolis making a move for him though.

I just voted stud because........ A.) I agree with @thorn058@thorn058 and B.) I don't think he is smart enough to dog it for a few years and then turn it on for personal reasons.

I think a few things aligned and the light went on.

What do you disagree with again? I said his play style needs to fit the scheme and you disagreed. Then you said three different times that he needed to fit a system, not that the system needed to fit him.

Teams typically have system/schemes in place and draft/trade for players who fit. When a transcendent player is acquired, you can build your system/scheme and complimenting roster around his talents. That is NOT the case with Bud Dupree. He is not a transcendent player. No team will EVER build around him. He will be the most productive and valuable to a team that has a system in place that his talents are made for. Not the other way around.

And how is "going for the money" not his decision entirely? Teams line up. They offer what they value your services at. You chose where you want to go based on a number of factors, one of which is money. And if the most important thing to you is money, then you deprioritize all the other factors and cash in. The decision is ENTIRELY yours. To say anything else is folly.

It is not his decision entirely because the highest bidder may not fit Bud's skillset. As you said and we both agree, Bud is not transcendent by any means. As such, while a team will throw money at him, they will not back up the proverbial Brinks Truck to do so.

I agree with everything accept it not being his decision entirely. Not really worth arguing over, so I should just let it go. And yet, I persist.

By very definition, a decision is a "choice." It is a conclusion or resolution reached after consideration. "Highest bidder" more than implies that teams, plural, have offered various amounts of money for Bud to "consider." Each of these teams have schemes that may or may not fit his skillset. He has the choice, or decision if you will, to make based on what is most important to him. It is ENTIRELY his choice whether or not to pick the most lucrative offer regardless of scheme. Once offers are made, the teams don't make any decisions. His current coach or team doesn't make the decision. Even his family doesn't make the decision. Certainly, all outside sources can impact HIS decision, but it is absolutely, unequivocally, and in all other ways ENTIRELY his decision. There is no other way of stating it.
