Politics is all about exploitation of resources. Nothing has changed since captain caveman. What they exploit is what changes. Be it people, earth's resources, & currently health care of us old foggies that need science's breakthroughs in the medical field.

I’m realizing both sides think they are right and media portrays the opposite side as wrong or crazy which is just stirring up people even further. I just want Steelers to be relevant again haha

Yeah he looks good imo but by November he will be chunky with a beard again lol. He just needs to be a game manager and we can win many games. He can turn it up as he needs to lol

He wasn't chunky.... he was just getting ready for Plan B where he would replace Hargrave if his elbow injury didn't allow him to remain a QB.

He is going to have to do more than that. The running game isn't good enough for him to be a game manager.

What running game are you speaking of? The one that doesn't exist in reality right now? The one that didn't have a HOF qb, an adequate OL, or a capable receiving corp last year?

If you're going to cast aspersions at one part of the offense, you should point to all parts. Can you point to any part of the last offense we put on the field and say it was up to par?

I'm with ya. Needs to turn it down with the passing until he is needed. My fear is that he resigned to pass for 5,000 yards a season.

You think teams will stack the box vs Ben as much as they did vs duck Rudolph?

You think the rest of that offense is good enough for a quarterback who is only a game manager? If you do, I don't know what offense you were watching last year.

Ebron will help. So will having a fullback again. That said, the realistic arguments for that offense getting better this year are all built around the return of Roethlisberger. That means the Hall of Fame quarterback, not some game manager whose job is to not screw things up.

They have an offensive line that played poorly last year and running backs who were either inconsistent or could not stay healthy, so there is no reason to think they have a good enough running game to get buy without Roethlisberger doing more than just manage the game. It should be better if the passing game returns to being a consistent threat and Watt provides them the fullback they lacked most of last season, but counting on that aspect to carry the entire offense makes little sense.

let's face it we didn't bring ebron in and draft these wrs to run the ball more. We should run the ball better with the healthy fb, and our stable of good rbs. Not to mention a couple of moves on the oline. We should be able to do what is needed during the game to beat about any type of defense. Ben has weapons that mason did not last year. This machine has the parts to be very good on both sides of the ball.

The only thing that gives me hope about the offensive line is the departure of Foster. He was terrible last season. He clearly retired a year too late. Time and again last season, we saw running plays blown up before they could get started and it was because Foster was either too slow or simply couldn't make his block. I like the Wisniewski signing, but I don't really think he is an upgrade over Finney.

The other thing that gives me hope is the return of Roethlisberger will make everybody better. Teams are going to have to defend the Steelers differently with him back there. That should open up more room for the running game. Not having a fullback most of the season also hurt. It was no coincidence that Conner had his best game against the Dolphins, the only game other than the opener that he and Nix got to play together. That is why I am think the Watt signing will be more helpful than Ebron.

You're kind of making my point and arguing it at the same time. I was simply saying not to crack all your eggs on the running game's basket. Why? For the exact reason you stated, the entire offense sputtered last season. I just don't think it's fair to say the running game isn't good enough to support a game manager when the entire offense sucked.

And I didn't say anything about Ben's role as either game manager or focal point. But since you want me to, I'll give my opinion on the subject. I don't think this offense is served well with Ben as a game manager. It was built and honed with him at the helm. All production runs through him. Defensive coordinators won't lose sleep over a back-seat-Ben offense. And I don't think he's coming back with the thought of that either. He'll hang up his cleats before he is put in that role. So I think we are in agreement on this. But if history has taught me anything, you'll find a way to espouse the opposite.

So, with Ben back, and in charge again, I think our offense looks markedly different this year ("this year" gulp). How does the saying go, a high tide raises all ships? Ben is the tide supporting our offense. With him under center, all phases must be respected. Stack the box? Yes, please. Drop linemen into coverage? Christmas morning. And realize that if our defense comes back as good, if not better (which I suspect it will be), the opposition is going to need to be darned near perfect on defense. Our offense isn't going to have to put up big numbers, just win time of possession. A fresh defense and a lead in the 4th quarters might be all we need to make a lot of noise this season ("this season" gulp).

I think you misread my original point. The offense isn't built for a game-manager at quarterback. That is one reason why it failed so often last season. I wasn't slamming the running game, just saying that it couldn't carry the offense. Roethlisberger has to do more than manage the game for the offense to succeed.

I don't expect anything like 2018, not with Roethlsberger two years older and no Brown, but the passing attack should be much better than what we saw in 2019. Even if the defense only maintains, but doesn't improve, the results should be better with a competent offense. We agree on that. I'm not sure they will be better. They need a healthy Tuitt and growth from some younger guys to make that happen. The part about Tuitt is what worries me given his history.

Maybe I'm expecting more of the 2018 season coming from Ben. Imo if he was wanting a potent SB run, he leaves money on the table. I'm edging more towards he wants to pad his career stats.

Damn, that picture of Ben has renewed my hope that he will kick some ass. Looks good! Stay healthy, give our boys 12+ games (Can't see the whole 16, sure he'll have a minor injury) and this team could top 5 AFC.

MLB is about to start a 60 game season I believe. Will be interesting to see if they play them all with the same roster. Should it work out I see no reason the NFL can't make it work. No crowd noise is going to take something away from the game. I am enjoying Golf minus the crowds. Enjoy hearing the exchange between golfer and his caddie.
