Bud Dupree followed Shaq Barrett's example and filed a grievance with the league today over the amount paid to him by position.

This is getting ridiculous I can see where a case for DT who switch positions to DE and rush the passer might have a slight point but when you are a smaller OLB in a 3-4 you aren't getting paid like a DE in a 4-3. Just isn't going to happen. Heck why not just give them all Mahomes type money.

Probably won't be a season anyways. Might as well reach for the most he can. A QB gets a 1/2 billion dollars so every player is going to be as greedy as possible from here on out. I don't blame him one bit.

Can’t go to hell for asking? But he certainly is not a DE. I have my doubts about him being a LB.

I was in a union contract Negotiation once for a company I eventually owned. A shop worker who was part of the negotiations said he worked 3 different jobs at different times so he should be paid 3 times as much. I told him when he wasn’t working the other 2 jobs he was only doing one and should be paid 1/3 of his wage. I think he is still trying to figure that out.

Does Bud have the same agent that Bell had? He might think he is a transcending player of the game.

Now it makes sense. Vince Williams covered receivers and they paid him as a cornerback. If Ben is in shotgun, does that make pouncey a long snapper? :hmm::cool:

PLEASE PLEASE Colbert and Co DO NOT sign this one year wonder. A DE :lolol: An average OLB is more like it. He will play under the franchise providing there is a season then some team will sign him to be their main pass rusher next season :roflmao:

With you on this, was really saddened they put the tag on him. Tired of getting burned overpaying, that 16 million could have been used to sign a couple of decent mid level players, or extend Cam.

He has already signed the tender so he is probably wasting his time, the linebacker amount is more than fair at $16m. I’m glad he is back for 2020 but I also believe the system that he is in and the players he plays alongside benefits him immensely. I would not like to be depending on him as my franchise pass rusher.

Can’t see them signing him long term unless Highsmith is a bust. I expect him to step in for 2021 after Bud is gone and TJ gets a big new deal.

He is within his rights to file the grievance. I don't blame him for using the system to maximize his earnings. It is basically the flip side of the Steelers tagging him. I don't blame them either.

That's the same mindset most of the owners used to become billionaires.

Yup I guess he is being advised by his agent. Most players don't come up with this stuff on their own. It's not anything that any other person wouldn't or shouldn't look into their options.

I understand your point, but don’t blame him. Professional athletes have a limited time to earn as much money as possible. If there’s a chance to earn an extra 2 million a year you go for it.

Bud has had 4 seasons of chances to milk free agency for all he can get. He blew it. How many here thinks he disappears after some lutz owner gives him $50million in guarantees?

I don't blame Bud, one lick. I don't think he wins his grevience, but if he does good for him. Without the tag, Bud gets more guaranteed than the $16mi from the tag. The deal HIS UNION agreed to screws him, so good luck to him.

I agree with you, but the tag wasn't his idea. If you want to bag on the Rooneys for tagging him, fine.
If some other stupid owner wants to overpay a one-year wonder, that ain't Buds fault. But I don't blame Bd or any player for grabbing as much $ as they can. Their bosses do, from taxpayers all the time.

I'm not upset with Bud about his predicament. He should do what's best for him. I just disagree with his decision to go all in for his paydate at this moment in time.

I think if he was reasonable about the impact he brings, he could possibly retire with some legacy as a very good linebacker. The way he is going, I see him getting his one payday to be forever forgotten. Signs with someone that expects him to be the driving force in the pass rush while he needs all the help he can get gunning for the QB. No way I think he's worth $16mil a year, I peg him at $12mil/per for multiple years only with somebody better than him in the front 7.

I wonder who decides this grievance? Some form of arbitration?
