Welcome to the left coast. There're a bunch of us out here - not sure how many are true transplants - I'm originally from Castle Shannon, 35 years out here in the San Gabriel Valley, 20 years in Victor Valley (Phelan) and soon to be an Owens Valley (Bishop) resident for the remainder. California is a beautiful State - too bad it got so mucked up with other matters.

Hi Mojave, I've actually spent some time golfing and boating at Spring Valley Lake, Victorville,CA...beautiful place, and I have lived in the San Gabriel Valley for a period of time too, nice to meet a fellow Pittsburgher!

Thank Heaven it's a dry heat! :guiness: I'm finding that the Round Valley highlands area just northwest of Bishop is as hot and dry (humidity levels) as the Cali desert except there are plenty o' nearby lakes and streams and "cricks" and that blazing late afternoon sun is shielded by the ginormous High Sierras.
