Maybe they could skip the game but have a short simple induction ceremony before the Super Bowl.

I fear this is the first of many NFL cancellations. I hope I'm wrong.

Not surprised but saddened all the same.

Shortened season is likely. How shortened remains to be seen. If not, a full season cancelation is not out of the realm of possibility even though it is unlikely currently.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if most of the pre season isn't wiped out.

    No money in it.

Mixed feelings on this. Bummed that it won’t be held this year because I had my tickets to the game and ceremonies along with hotel booked, but relieved I didn’t have to make the decision to attend with my 76 year old uncle. Optimistic things will be better overall next year.

Right call. Troy deserves a stadium packed with Steelers fans. Not some socially distant, half stadium bs.

I have been hearing there might only be 2 preseason games played, and stadiums will not have fans in the first 6-8 rows.

This had me thinking about what a shortened season would look like. I think a bracket that led to the Superbowl would be very interesting if the season were to be shortened. You could even have a battle back bracket for the losers. A do or die kind of thing, but I'm sure it wouldn't make much financial sense.

How will they keep the players from testing positive? Last thing Big Ben needs is to sit out at $40mil per year.

Most likely if Ben gets the bug he'll only be out a few weeks.

The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the curtain before its risen. California chatter is we're headed for another September shutdown if not before. We'll see, baseball will be telling I think... If the waters get muddied there say even in their faux spring training period it'll be shut down. I've voiced my opinion on the covid subject and don't trust the numbers or theories related as of day 1 but to each their own... I don't have a lot of faith that we're getting ball this year regardless of our feelings. However, I'd love to see it move forward.

Shortened season favors the older qbs like Ben and Brees who wear as the season goes on... Brady too lol

Redskins are gonna win the Super Bowl. Shortened seasons always favor the Skins.

If a player like Ben gets infected, then they would probably have to quarantine for 14 days.

Heinz, if Alex Smith is able to play, and supplants Haskins, they will have an old QB, as well as, the shorten season karma.

Perhaps someone can explain to me why:

    - English, German, Italian and Spanish Soccerr can restart
    - Korean Baseball can restart
    - Aussie and NZ football and rugby can restart

But none of our sports can't?. Well, we've been hit harder! Really Harder than Italy and Spain?

    I await an intelligent answer.

You can throw out comparisons to South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. They’ve fared much, much better than us. They have less than 400 C19 deaths in total between them. In the case of South Korea, they were initially hit, but unlike the US they were ready and took steps to test, trace and isolate to beat it down.

For Europe, from what I’ve seen they are mostly doing what MLB, the NBA and NHL are planning - having games without fans present. I think Italy is allowing hundreds of fans instead of tens of thousands.
