I said it back then and I will say it again. The best thing Ben ever did was meeting and marrying Ashley. She's from a small town in Western PA that is very similar to where he grew up in Ohio. She definitely put him back on the right path and boy oh boy was he out of control at that time of his life. Keep the faith Ben. I'm sure your mother is smiling from above once again.

Wow wasn’t expecting that, hopefully he is not dealing with these issues still today, but I guess it is always a struggle.

Wasn't expecting that either. The most impressive and encouraging thing about that article is that he's taking ownership of his past transgressions. He's not dodging his past or trying to sugar coat anything. Kudos to him for manning up. Sounds like he is in a much healthier place, and it makes it easier to really root for him. I've never been his biggest fan. But I can get behind someone who is flawed and admits it.

I guess I will be the devils advocate on this one as well. This is TMI. We did not need to know that Ben Roethlisberger has a porn addiction. It is okay for some things, in any individuals life, to remain private. I respect Ben for wanting to be a better man. I respect that he realizes that there are areas in his life that he needs to improve upon for the sake of his wife and children. But again, I am really not sure why he felt the need to out himself as a porn addict. For me it was a weird thing to do. It's not something I personally care to know about one of my all time favorite players. It doesn't change how I feel about Ben in any way, other than the fact that I would think twice about Ben ever borrowing my cell phone.

I do my best to stay away from Pittsburgh sport stars personal lives. All I care about is them helping us to win. As us older folks know, with ageing comes maturing. Welcome to growing older Ben, now go out there and get us #7!!!!!!!!

This was Ryan Clark's take yesterday as well, felt it wasn't something he need to comment on nor something they needed to debate. Ben did give his testimonial so Brooke Pryor could write an article for ESPN. He was attending a Christian husband's zoom conference call with Tunch and this was his story to those group of men. Hey I'm flawed I know there is a perception of me as a role model but these are the demons I battled to become a righteous husband and father. This is my struggle and let me tell it so I can help you lean on us and build you up. It kinda of sad that it did get turned into a story but that is way things go.

I like that he did it, but I definitely see your point of view. I'm not necessarily a big fan of professional athletes being role models, but it seems enough of them want to claim that title. If so, I think laying it out there is a step in the right direction. Having said that, I think he could have merely said he dealt with demons in his past and went on to explain his path to redemption without being specific. I only say this as someone who has no demons or faults! I will now sit here and wait for the shards of my glass house to descend upon me.

So Ben, why the admission now? There is always a reason for things like this. I wanted you gone after Milledgeville. Now rich for all eternity, he confesses and what I'm reading is all is forgiven and see how he's matured. We're the people on this board that were all over Bill H DUI as vocal about Bens two times sexual harassment allegations? Will Bill be as forgiven as Ben after he admits he made a bad choice. My point is some things that are done can't be undone apology or admission notwithstanding. There are two girls I am sure will agree. We win or lose with BR but wish to God it wouldn't be so.

Good point but it would be a better point if Ben had been charged. I tend to be sceptical of allegations against public figures until some kind of proof is offered. When charges aren't even filed one has to wonder why

It was too TMI but it could be part of his therapy. Putting himself out there and making himself vulnerable while showing others he’s human. I hate that everyone acts like they are saints behind closed doors... some people hang upside down with a lit candle in their buttcheeks and scream at other people for watching porn lol

I hear what you are saying BBH. I don't think this is a case where people are acting holier than thou. I think this is a case where people are thinking, it would have been better to keep that to himself. Think of Ben's poor wife. Probabably a little embarrassing for her to have all of her close friends and family know that Ben is addicted to porn. If he wanted to cleanse his soul, he could have admitted his addiction to his wife, family, and very close friends and avoided the harm this may cause to others close to him.

I can just see the look on Ashley 's face now. "Hello Mrs. Roethlisberger. Welcome to Giant Eagle. We have a buy one, get one free sale on Jergens hand lotion going on today. Should we have a pallet brought around front?"

Guys lets try to keep in mind that this was a conference were these men were giving their stories to each other. Brooke Pryor who is new to the Pittsburgh beat for ESPN thought it was a good story and wrote and post it. It wasn't Bdn sitting in front of a bunch of reporters or telling outside the lines or even pulling an AB. He opened himself up at what was in essence a support group. Not to say hey
Steelers Nation I'm addicted to porn. Heck Brett Farve admitted go the press that hd was addicted to booze and painkillers and was still voted MVP.

He said he was baptized again. This is all part of his faith and rebirth as a Christian. It isn't about him telling US his personal issues. It's not about us. It's about him and his walk with the Lord.

But Glory, then why did he say it if it isn't about us?

He is publicly admitting his sins to humble himself. What we do with that information has no bearing on him. It's his personal witness and testimony.

I did. They were a little big. He donated an old pair to Goodwill and I got them for a couple of bucks.

I’m not sure what your point was?

I'm 28. All I've ever known was a world with easy access porn. It's not like I wanted to know that about Ben but its a pretty real thing. I've dealt with it myself. My son, if I still have enough in the chamber to make a son, will be dealing with this in virtual reality. I weep for his unborn struggles.
