I'll be 66 in August and I've never built my own AR from parts. My son is going to show me how to do it and I'll have my rifle for 3 gun competition. I can't wait to get started to see how it turns out!

It’s easy. A vice with a couple of easily purchased clamps, roll pin punch, AR wrench, and a small hammer are pretty much all you need. Everything can be purchased online and shipped via standard mail except the lower receiver. The lower is the only part the requires a background check or ffl transfer. Unless you decide to go the sbr route. That’s a whole different can of worms and will take 12-18 months waiting on the fed tax stamp.

my son built his own. I'm assuming when you buy the lower you pass the background check and that's it. So that's what I'll do. I am really pumped about building one of my own

yes. The lower receiver is the only part with a serial number and is the lone part considered a firearm.

you can find some ammo online. But you'll pay more right now than usual. Bass Pro is always our as are the other stores. 2A Warehouse has some that isn't to badly priced. Good luck finding ammo though
