Always interesting how much Tomlin can say without saying anything.

Saying it is an open competition for Ben's backup but as of today it is Rudolph, isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

 

Actually I think it to be a honest assessment. Nothing is given, go out and earn it. Better to perform and earn the position, than to have it handed to you then lose it.

Unless its like the "competition " between Dobbs and Jones where Dobbs got 4 preseason games to showcase himself and Jones didn't as they knew what he brought. That wasn't a competition at all.

 

Talk about putting your eggs in one basket. When it comes to coaching, Tomlin can't chew gum and coach at the same time.
