    ANTHONY MCFARLAND JR.RB, MARYLAND TERRAPINS
    [IMG]
An anonymous NFL scout told Bob McGinn of The Athletic that their team took Maryland RB Anthony McFarland off their board because "his character is absolutely atrocious."
"We took him off the board because his football character is absolutely atrocious,” said another scout. “He’s like a child. Really high maintenance. Every week there’s going to be something with this guy." The scout also complimented his speed and ability, for the record. The 5-foot-8, 208-pound pound tailback is expected to be drafted sometime on Day 3.

    Geez! I hope not!

If we get 7+ years of AB production out of him it will be a steal.

Until proven otherwise, it would be hard to be as much as a head case as AB was.

Considering they have inside info on this guy, I’ll be cautiously optimistic he’ll be ok, character wise.

Still need to watch tape on him but from what I’m reading and his speed, I may have judged this pick hastily.

his former head coach is our qb’s coach and Tomlin’s son played with him. If there were character issues with the guy the Steelers would know.

To be determined. Unless he suffers a hit equivalent to what happened to Antonio Brown, it is difficult to say. Besides, reports like this come out every year for players.

Should he exhibit any form of such behavior, given Tomlin's track record, I am certain he can be subdued far quicker than Antonio Brown was.

Smh ...this is another colbert/Tomlin collaboration ... wherein, 3yrs from now .... there won't be a draft pick from this class on the team

How many threads are you going to start to talk about this one pick?

Given Tomlin's track record of what? Trying to ignore problems?

    Um.. no.

Dealing with troubled players. The fact that Tomlin received seven seasons of HOF production vs. nothing when it came to Bill Belichick and Jon Gruden should speak volumes.

So I guess we're just gonna forget about Bell, Harrison, Blount (who got a SB outta it).

With the Canada and Tomlin connection I do not this will be an issue. If he comes in to the locker room and starts acting like an ass I think Ben, Pouncey and a few other will set him straight very quickly. You have to earn the right to be a Diva as someone else pointed out.

Bell was regarded as the best back when he was here in Pittsburgh. James Harrison was a DPOY candidate who did nothing but desire to play. Once he did not get his wish, he decided to leave. LeGarrette Blount quit on the team; something that sounds personal given the fact that Le'Veon was coming into his own.

Again and, as I said, Tomlin managed those personalities far better than he gets the credit for. Had this been another coach like Jon Gruden, the Steelers would have suffered unimaginable consequences. The fact that Tomlin not only managed those personalities but also got good production for them, Blount being the exception, tells me that some Rookie from Maryland, whom Matt Canada knows very well, should be childs play in comparison.

I am by no means endorsing Anthony McFarland for an All Pro Career. However, to state that Mike Tomlin could potentially lose control of the team just because he drafted someone who may have character issues is a very short sighted take. Even more so is the fact that both Tomlin and Canada had information on McFarland from the start makes this issue a non issue all together.

I concur, however the minute the woman hit the radio airwaves with the allegations and AB going full melt down assaulting moving truck guy and what not, he would've been sent home from here as well. He would've lasted in NE but even the emperor can only fleece so many rules/laws founded or not to this point.

Not the point of the discussion. Plenty of other factors played a part in not obtaining those Super Bowls. Now, that discussion is another subject all together.

well, talking about McFarland, i hear from a facebook page that he has some trash talks against Devin Bush when they faced sometimes in college. But recentlly after the pick, Devin Bush apologizes with McFarland and tell him to work.

I was reading on Steeler.com that McFarland was really excited to join the Steelers because of Matt Canada. McFarland said that Canada was like a "second father" to him while at Maryland and he can't wait to play for him in Pittsburgh.
