He was around as GM forever. Always had them competing every 4-5 years for a legit run.

I agree, he reminds me sort of Aaron Smith in style of play and what he can bring to the table.

    I want an answer, too.

My theory is that his size and relative athleticism makes him such an intriguing prospect that Steeler brass is real reluctant to give up on him. One or two plays a year he actually flashes for a full time roster spot is just silly. I think Big Dan simply doesn't possess the "angry" to be effective at his job.

For my crowd in youth it was Iron City pint cans. Same lack of funds.

He is like Brian Allen, a player who falls so far outside the norms for size that he is intriguing. There is always the hope these guys turn into above average players but seldom do. Dan McCullers with Aaron Donald's motor and talent would be unstoppable but he is more like gentle ben than tasmanian devil

I don't know where the future of the DL is heading. I don't think we'll cut Alualu. He's got more experience inside. Yes it's alot of bodies at DE but Tuitt's health seems to always be a question mark so it will be nice to have Wormley as the next man up.

Wasn’t Buggs asked to cut weight last year? Maybe they give him a little more leeway in the weight department and he plays more NT this year.

Glad you brought Tuitt's name up. For that matter, glad that the team clearly sees something in Wormley that Baltimore could not since he was drafted. Tuitt is almost never available given the circumstances.

To me, the trade for Chris Wormely has some hidden value to it. Yes, Tuitt will not hit Free Agency until 2023 and Chris is on the final year of his rookie contract. That said, this move feels like a "prove it" maneuver than just merely acquiring depth.

He does bat a lot of balls down. It's a matter of time before Tuitt and cam are replaced. So much money tied up and the years are adding up. Two more, maybe three before both are gone. They stay for the Ben run and then I see this blow up. Ben, pouncey, DD, AV, alualu, cam, tuitt, haden, mcdonald, ebron and down the line in the next two to three. JMO.

I'm not understanding anything in this thread. Effects from a viral infection?

Anyways, as all the FA signings this year, gap fillers to add depth and backup. Not going to set the world on fire but adequate for what we need to do. He's a run stopper, that can clog the middle, bat down balls and pretty good at it too but don't expect much in pass D. The Steelers have really gotten good at using FA to fill holes in recent years. Art II, is more into FA than his predecessors. In the meantime we still have Buggs and Alaulu to parlay.

    Yep.

Alualu is likely gone after 2021. In addition, there is little to no guarantee that Cam can keep up his level of production. Thankfully he has not had any major injury as of late but it still begs the question.

Tuitt is, and I despise to state this, someone who will likely get injured again. He has proven he cannot stay healthy a full 16 game season. I myself wonder if Isaiah Buggs' conversation he had with Tomlin after Javon was released had anything to do with him potentially being counted on for more than just merely filling in for Hargraves shoes.

I expect we will be drafting some guys at certain points this year and next. I think buggs and Wormley will be pretty good for us. Mondeaux looked pretty good last preseason. We will see if he continues this year.

Nothing says Steelers football like having Buggs and Worms battling in the trenches.

    Hmmm....

You are right. Perhaps the team will take a Defensive Lineman in this year's draft. Granted, 2019's Interior Defensive Lineman Class is a class I do not think that will be seen again soon as that class had legendary levels of talent and depth. That said, this class is not too shabby.

I look for one later. Penisini is on my radar. He can play similar to hargraves. Inside at the nose or some DE, but most notably when we go to two down linemen in sub packages. He started to get some movement lately. The most focus was on fotu, but teams found out pensini had just about identical numbers.
