BPA at #49 now?

With the Steelers free agent signings I don't see them being locked into one position, they might not even draft a TE this year with them only having 6 picks. I could see OL, WR, and ILB, maybe OLB as the choice at #49, if Jonathan Taylor somehow dropped to them at #49 then address RB.

 

I agree, they could certainly go BPA and they wouldn't be avoiding a glaring need.

I"m still all in for WR Chase Claypool.

 

I agree except for the part of taking a RB at #49. I think there’s a few that can be had later. Dillon,Akers....
I feel you draft a RB early when you actually really need one because most are ready to roll day 1. Jmo.

 

RB might not be their biggest need, but Taylor has that breakaway speed, I would prefer to find one later on though maybe with the 3rd comp pick or one of the 4th rd picks.

 

I would not rule out trading down from this spot to get more draft capital. I think the team is pretty solid at most starting positions, depth is what is missing. I’d love a dynamic back at #49 but it may not be the best use of that spot. If they trade back they can probably still get somebody like Akers in the late second or third

 

Running back or Jeremy Chinn. Either or would be fine with me. If Tee Higgins in available at 49 though then he should definitely be worth a look.


An abosulte monster in the Red Zone and someone who can move the sticks. Would not mind acquiring him.

 

Just restructure Tuitt like they seem to do for every player now
and sign Dion Lewis who I wanted 2years ago.

 

If that’s the case I think Dobbins is right there’s with him for speed and a lot less usage as well I believe....

 

Trading down is always enticing but we never seem to find a way to do it. The way Colbert is wheeling and dealing at this point ,a trade up although very unlikely,is probably just as likely as a trade down...jmo

 

Not the year to be trading up IMO, they don’t have the picks to spare. I do agree that Colbert is a bit unpredictable of late though, so who knows what he will do.

 

Oh yeah i know it’s not ideal but I’m just basing it on his current MO . The way they are going all in he could dip into next years picks as well.

 

If they trade down, the only good scenario I see is a trade with Seattle. We would swap #49 with their #59 and possibly get their 3rd round comp pick at #101. #49 and #59 has a difference of 100 points and the comp pick at 101 is worth 96 points. Plus we would have back to back picks at 101 and 102.

If we are just moving back from #49, we would probably only get a combination of a pick this year and one next year. Which is fine too, but I would prefer the first scenario.

 

I'm all about Dobbins right now at 49. 0 holes in his game. Dolphins are courting him though.

 

We don't know about Dobbins, he didn't workout at the combine, and there will probably be no pro days.

 

@mac daddyo can probably give a better scouting report but from what I’ve seem his speed is more than adequate. It’s more important what shows up on tape then a timed 40...

Yeah he does but my point is he would have a better grasp of what Dobbins can do....

 

I watch them play every week. The pros are full of them. They are leaders of recruiting top players in the country. Most that come out have losses that they can count on one hand throughout college. Yeah they are pretty good. Dobbins is real good. Dobbins has the ability to carry a team and take over games. No learning curve required. Pass protects, pass catching, running the ball. No weakness. Since he was a true freshman. Not flashy but the next thing you see in a game, he has 200 yards. Lowest season of rushing was a 4.6 yds. per carry. His touches were not limited to inflate those numbers either. He is for real.

 

I have seen him play often, I'm just not sure I like him at #49 though.

Regarding J.K. Dobbins, never say never. I believe he can drop to pick 49. He does a lot of little things well but not any one aspect extraordinary

It would terrorize a defensive backfield to have 6'4" 235lb Claypool and 6'4" 252 lb Ebron thundering through their secondary. Especially since Claypool runs a 4.43 forty and Ebron runs a 4.5.

Don't forget the 6-2 darboh and the 6-2 cain. 4.45 and 4.43. Cain has 33 in. arms too. I think we are in pretty good shape with young receivers. ike Hilliard should help.

 

I like Dobbins and Taylor however I am looking at guys like Windfield, Cushenberry an OLB are more important. Yeah Dobbins and Taylor bight be the BPA but are they the BPA enough over positions like S, OG/C and OLB where they could end up being starters in 2021? I feel we could end up with a Dillon or Perine later and get our future starter at one of them positions at 49. I will agree with Steel6 on something take TE off the list now, but I would like to see one brought in that can block as an undrafted guy. I feel we are pretty wide open right now but if Winfield slides or Cushenberry is there and a Bud replacement I like them over Dobbins and/or Taylor. jmo
