I doubt that because I don't think it was a gift. It was a reasonable deal for Derek Watt given his play on special teams and at fullback. I hope wanting to continue to play with his brother might help a little, but T.J. Watt is going to get paid.

If we run a fake punt with Derek Watt and he is tackled a yard short, I hope he doesn't get up and do a dance all over the field.

Not only good blocking skills but seems to have pretty good hands as a WR out of the backfield.

It is a fair deal. It certainly isn’t so generous that the Watt family owes the Steelers something, though getting to play with his brother could certainly help with TJ.

    I absolutely Love the Move!!!!

In all but my last Mock 53 last year it was without nix (FB) !!!

D Watt is a better STer!!! Better blocker , Better rusher And a true weapon as a receiving FB !!!!

My favorite move of the whole offseason !!!

T.J. Watt will have the last laugh. For that matter, he is going to laugh big time. T.J. Watt is going to reset the pass rushing market in a big way.

Keep in mind that the projected Salary Cap total is $240 Million in 2021. That is quite a bit. Don't think for a second T.J. is not paying attention to that. However, there is a much bigger issue that does not involve him or the Steelers directly.

Myles Garrett is also slated for a pay increase. Question now becomes, between the Steelers and Browns, which team will pay their star pass rusher first to reset the market?! Time to find out.

The way things are going, the market for every position will be reset every season from now on.

    Yep.

It is not just a matter of that though. It is a matter of who has their contracts ink dried up first. That will place the revolving door in motion.

From there, it is all about not just reaching but surpassing that limit.

Unless SaQuon wins MVP somehow, someway, I agree. Unfortunate but expected given what we knew about Todd Gurley's condition before the mega deal he received. Thanks to both Todd and Ezekiel, the Running Back market took a nosedive greater than the DOW, S&P 500 and NASDAQ put together!

FA are overpayed every spring, especially during the first week of free agency.
Think the NFL will get to the point of not offering 2nd contracts or will the players grow some danglers & have the rookie contracts that limit compensation eradicated? I see less long-term commitments in the future & more year to year contracts.

His best ability is his availability. Nice to know he has a good track record on being in games. That alone makes this a good deal.

Not really. I even added a ;+) so not to be misconstrued.
I don't get that deep into the sport, but I did get a kick out of someone on this site stating that the Rooney's weren't rich.
