This whole thing with AB brings up an interesting point. To what degree do owners/teams have control over the "incentives" in a players contract? Is it basic boilerplate based on collective bargaining agreement terms or can a team really create a custom contract for a guy like AB which would make him toe the line or leave?

My theory on AB... He'll try/ He's trying to kiss everybodies Ass...Some team or two MIGHT offer him a low, incentive based, very provision based contract...

AB will flip, rant, light up social media and this citizen of the year mantra he's trying to sell now...Will be gone forever

You can't classify him as toast when he played behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league and, in essence, a rookie QB.

No, But he's been in a steady decline for 2-3 years...His last year in Pittsburgh he averaged 3.9 ypc and 7 ypr, with a LONG run of 20 yards, That's terrible numbers behind a then great OL...He's had his " wheels run off " I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole

He was a terrible teammate in 2018. He told everybody he would be there. Then when he changed his mind and teammates wanted answers, he blew them off. Holding out to protect his business may have been a bad idea, but it wasn't being a bad teammate. Breaking promises and refusing to communicate with his teammates, however, absolutely made him a bad one.

Bell's availability was questionable. Not his injuries but his extra- curricular activities.

That was the biggest reason I thought it was ridiculous for him to expect a deal like Gurley's. Both of them had suffered injuries and health is why Gurley isn't living up to his contract, but Bell has also been suspended twice for violations of the league's substance abuse policy. He is a missed test or a failed test away from a long ban. That has to be taken into consideration.

I thought that sort of ended when we shipped Blount back to N.E.?

According to Bouchette, in the first year of the tag (when he played, before the holdout), Bell vetoed a contract his agent agreed to. (The agent responded that he and his client never had an agreement in place. But as someone else pointed out, the wording of the reply is consistent with the scenario that the agent agreed and Bell declined.)

Bell may have gotten bad advice from his agent. Or his agent is publicly supporting the decisions of his client, no matter what. Hard to tell, but my feeling is the latter.

One thing I think we can all be happy about as Steeler fans is that it doesn't seem to pay (in the long run) to be a prima donna supreme with the Steelers:thumbs_up:

Well you gotta bring home the hardware first or at least make it to the big game.

What was his problem 2 years ago? Said he would play a few times.
Blount or no Blount, he took a vacation during the season. Who does dumb crap like that? Ricky Williams with the hydroponic ganja.:roflmao:. It cost him & his clueless agent. :goofy:

Lawyer representing Antonio Brown in civil lawsuit for sexual assault and rape files motion to withdraw

Posted by Mike Florio on February 10, 2020

Antonio Brown has been fired, again.

Last month, agent Drew Rosenhaus severed ties with the troubled receiver. Now, Daniel Kaplan of TheAthletic.com reports that the lawyer representing Brown in a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and rape has filed a motion to withdraw.

An effort like this can arise from one of several different reasons. The lawyer possibly isn’t getting paid — a not-uncommon occurrence for those who provide services to Brown.

    Brown has apologized to Ben:

Mostly you a little bit of me ! Yee yee !! I never realized how good I had it, got caught up in my emotion with everyone coming after me I really apologize for my actions sincerely man ! It’s never been another connection like what we done in the past decade. I appreciate you. Sincerely AB

The first line is really surprising. Even if he's trying to weasel his way back into the league, that was probably tough to write.

I’m thinking his judge ordered shrink is telling him to mend fences. That lasted almost half way through a previous interview. Then he went back to blaming someone else.

He might wind up with a public defender at the rate he is going.

That's why I said I see prison, suicide, or both, in his future. It appears he is genuinely damaged mentally and God knows he has had plenty of reality slapping him in the face and he just keeps marching to his drummer.
