If we would have won 2 out of the remaining 3 games... he would have had much better consideration. I thought he did an excellent job this year considering the situation, but you can't go out on a losing streak and win many awards

The Ravens have the COY, league MVP, record setting offense, best record in the NFL, 12 pro bowl players and oh yeah zero playoff wins.

Vrabel deserved it more than Harbaugh, IMO. And for the record... yes... I think Harbaugh is a better coach than Tomlin.

This post is what's wrong with our society today. Medals for showing up. Particpation ribbons. Awards for mediocrity.

No 8-8 coach should EVER be considered COTY. Ever.

    Competition is about winning. Period.

He didn't deserve to win it, after they finished with 3 losses to end the season.

I’m not devastated at all. At one point I thought he had a very good chance of becoming coach of the year. Fell apart at the end and really wasn’t deserving.

Half this board doesn't recognize sarcasm. I just wish Tomlin would have done the opposite the last three games, because if all of his coaching instincts are wrong, than the opposite instincts would have to be right.

I think if Tomlin would have got to at least one playoff game this year, not saying he would need to win it, I would say he had as much right if not more to be coach of the year. Had he won one playoff game and didnt get coach of the year then, they go by whom they like.

Harbaugh is so great... his team beat 2 HOF'ers (Brady and Manning) en route to a Super Bowl victory with Joe Flacco at QB. Something Tomlin can only dream about.

I think my attitude towards Tomlin is fair. I was admitting mid-season that the team's performance in spite of the upheaval should be recognized and that Tomlin had to play a part in the team's success just as much as its failures. I was ready to give him credit for success at that point. I don't just hate on the man. It just happens that he deserves more criticism than praise. That's not my fault.

Shouldn’t all owners concerned about winning at least contemplate the future of his HC and his team when things are trending down? He thought about it ,he reconsidered and Harbaugh and the team have bounced back. So because the owner evaluated the situation, that makes Harbaugh a bad coach?

This designation has nothing to do about anybody have a right to dog sh!t. Lots of politics involved and god knows what else. I don't put much weight into this COY crap for the very reason someone mentioned above how the Rats have all of that BS designated awards and couldn't win a playoff game at home with a week off. Sound familiar. MT really had a shot at 8-5 but like usual (lately) we flounder across the finish line and look pretty much pathetic. Had he won just one more game and got into the playoffs this may have changed everything.

IMHO Harbaugh rode doing the unconventional thing to regular season success, until the playoffs caught up with him. Damn those statistics!

Doesn't really work if you don't convert 4th and short with no running game outside of the QB breaking a long one and juking defenders.

I know right?! Here is something more interesting!!

Wow!!! What excellence!!! Clearly better than Tomlin!

Wait a second... I forgot... winning overall does not matter at all if one can best that guy up in Foxboro multiple times!! Who cares about sustained success?!?!

So long as that hooded wonder is bested repeatedly, nothing else matters!!

He will never win coach of the year when the standard is the standard and a game plan against one team is the same game plan against any other team. I will give him some props for holding this MASH unit together but 8-8 is average no matter what way you spin it.

I really don't foresee him winning another SB as a HC. Wish I felt otherwise but my confidence in him at this point is pretty much shot.

I'll bet people in Baltimore are feeling the same way. That playoff loss was a disaster.

Harbaugh huh, regular season winner but outclassed in the playoffs by a solid game plan by the other HC. Sounds like Vrabel should have reeled that award in.

When did they vote on this?
