Ben has never been a guy to keep the pounds off but I agree his beard makes it look worse also that puffy jacket don't help. Now keep in mind I am not saying he isn't out of shape but I think he will be fine come camp time.....weight wise. And if he isn't no big deal he will be even harder to tackle and with the line play this year that may be a good thing, lmao.

Yes sir Tanny has played himself into a nice contract some place and if they beat the Cheats this week watch out back up the Brinks truck. I feel a mobile QB is needed right now(insert all Dobbs jokes here......sorry) so I am all for him at the right price.

They won't be able to afford Mariota.

I'd take mariota in a heart beat... The kid can play I just don't think Tennessee was the right fit. Well now that I said that, I don't think RF would help the kid either oh well back to the drawing board.

Mike Tomlin made it clear that Mason is the clear number two. Figured that would be the case. The question remains will the team keep Paxton Lynch well into Training Camp?!

I do know that, Ben's new contract goes into effect at about $34 million next season, a guy like Mariota will probably get 8-10 million even as a backup. The Steelers aren't spending $40 million on QBs .

I doubt he falls to us... Question is do yinz trust the staff to coach him up???

It seems the last long however that outside of studs folks regress around here. Db's most notably... Artie... Edmunds included!

I don't have faith that our OC/QB whisperer could get the most out of any draft pick nor put em in a position to win when they're numbers called

Mariota should be the #1 priority....Winston #2 for veteran backup. Steelers could afford these 2. Dalton and Newton...no way.

I'd take Winston over Mariota. I think the ceiling is much higher.

Either one would be good for Steelers. Both have plenty of starting experience. Like Batch and Leftwich.

You know...I look at Winston and I at least think he could make the big league throws with the high INT gunslinger ratio.
I just dont know if Mason and Duck has that in their body of work but I do remember Mason being aggressive in college so what do I know.

No you don't know that, you have no clue how management feels about the back up position first off. And secondly you have no clue what cut and restructures they are going to make. We could have 29m in cap space with cutting like 5-6 guys. Yes they need to be replaced but at a much lower rate. Lastly you have no idea what the market for Maroita will be.

Do the Steelers now feel like they want to ad a vet to the mix and if so it could be a guy like Mariota because his value is pretty low right now. Keenum is making 7.5m, Bridgewater 7.2, Tannenhill 7m, Taylor 5.5, Fitzerception 5.5, Daniel 5m, Hoyer 4m, Henne 3.3m, Stanton 3.2m, McCoy 3.2m, McCarron 3m and RG3 2m. If the Steelers feel like they want to upgrade the back up position they can but it will take some good cap work.....but they can. We also just don't what Maroita is gonna make but last year only 4 QB's got more than 5m in FA. If a team thinks he can be a starter than yeah I can see 8-10m but as a back up or 1 year prove it 5-6m. jmo

They were talking about where Tua will fall in the draft and if he comes out yesterday during the game. They said there is a group that advises these kids on where they will get drafted and if that group thinks he will fall out of the first round you can bet your bottom dollar he goes back to college for another year.

He'll be fine. There are no doctors who did the operation on here so my opinion holds as much weight as all others. Bottom line is we'll find out soon enough. I would think the organization knows a hell of a lot more than anyone on here and what they do in the next few months will tell the tale. I hope.

With Mason pegged at #2 already by Popcorn they are NOT going to spring high money for a 3rd string QB. Lynch is signed for less than a mill next season. He stays.

I dont think this organization knows more than some of us, after all they gave TE green a 20 mill contract and he had an injury that they didnt know about and was gone before we knew it with a few million in his pocket for doing nothing.....
