Not when you look at the schedule. If anything I’d tout the close losses to Seattle San Fran and Baltimore early in the season as more impressive then beating 5-11 or worse type teams

Specifically, a QB meltdown. If we had an average QB who is careful with the ball the remainder of the season after Ben got hurt, we would already be in the playoffs.

No I’m saying to act like I want the Steelers to lose because I think TOMLIN is a bum is idiotic. TOMLIN blows 10 years should be enough for all of us to see but I’m sure some of you have alternative motives for why you want him around forever

Ok, you want the Steelers to win & get all excited about Tomlin losing, being a loser. Quite a pickle your in. I'm riding with everyone on the team, good games & bad ones. Good seasons & rebuilding ones. When Tomlin leaves, I will be rooting for the next sap that takes up the mantle.

I can guess who'll be the first to say the new guy blows!
There's a few guys on here that claim Tomlin blows, Tomlin sucks, Art sucks, other guys are hanging on --------------s balls... how do they know these things?

I can't figure out the guy that says Art ll wasn't as good as his grandfather. Dan was the man behind the curtain.

    Two Clubs

    1. Head-to-head, if applicable
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four
    4. Strength of victory
    5. Strength of schedule
    6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed
    7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed
    8. Best net points in conference games
    9. Best net points in all games
    10. Best net touchdowns in all games
    11. Coin toss
    Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after a third club or other clubs are eliminated, the tiebreaker reverts to step 1 of the applicable two-club format.)

    1. Apply the division tiebreaker to eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tiebreaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two wild card participants.
    2. Head-to-head sweep (applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others)
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference
    4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four
    5. Strength of victory
    6. Strength of schedule
    7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed
    8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed
    9. Best net points in conference games
    10. Best net points in all games
    11. Best net touchdowns in all games
    12. Coin toss

Who cares who likes Tomlin or not here? It has no bearing on whether he stays or goes. I get the feeling you think that by people here supporting him it somehow keeps him around longer?

I understand Glenn and you are right me hating on TOMLIN on a message board is of 0 value in terms of his tenure. Guess I’m just so frustrated with this team right now and for the last few years that I hoped a change would come. Perhaps it’s time to accept what is and that TOMLIN is here forever

You will learn in time that some people here think that just because you post on a message board it has real life value. They don't understand that a message board is for fans of that team to share opinions. And if your opinion don't match with theirs or you don't see through the same "rose colored glasses" as them you are a hater or bad fan. Some of them think:

Ties within a division are completed 1st. The Colts would eliminate the Titans on division record and then the Steelers would eliminate the Colts on head to head

Yeah, the time may be approaching, but I don’t think his performance this season can be viewed as anything but an improvement. What he did this year took solid leadership to keep things together as long as he did.

Agreed. After Seattle, I was ready to get rid of him, Butler and Fichtner.

I'm trying to work towards acceptance that all 3 will be back. Tomlin isn't going to lose his job after what most would consider a top 3 candidate for Coach of the year. The Steelers defense was a top 5 defense this year. That will save both Butler and Tomlin. I think this has more to do with the play of Fitzpatrick, Nelson, Haden, Watt and Dupree. However the coaches will benefit for it.

Fichtner will be given a pass due to how bad our QB play was. Now, Tomlin always preaches next man up. This means there should be no drop off in play which means the blame should fall on coaching if there is failure.

As much as we all complained about Arians and Haley over the years, I think "most" would agree they were much more competent OCs than Fichtner. I truly believe that the combo of Fichtner and Butler is the weakest combo of coordinators in the NFL. They are old buddies of Tomlin that I truly won't go anywhere as long as Tomlin is here.

So where do we go from here?

Well, there seems to be A LOT of talk about Colbert retiring after the 2020 draft. If this is true, and we bring in a new GM (or will that job go to Khan?) Will the new guy want his own coaching staff?

Are these rumours of teams like Washington being desperate for Tomlin true? Would they actually trade for him? With ex Steelers owners in Cleveland or Carolina, would either of them throw what is necessary to get Tomlin?

The fact Ben is determined to get back in 2020 tells me there in unlikely to be any big changes. I think we go into 2020 as we did in 2019. However, this time we will have a top 5 defense at our disposal with what is likely to be a much better offense with Ben back under center.

If Ben doesn't return in 2020 then I would be more likely to believe wholesale changes were around the corner. I am sure the Rooneys have Ben on speed dial and will be in constant communication regarding his recovery.

Agree with a lot of this, but I seem to recall the Carolina owner being a minority owner who wanted Tomlin gone a few years ago. I could be mistaken though.

I agree. If they we’re going to move on last season may have been the right time. He has done a pretty good job this season.

If KC wins there is nothing for them to play for. The only reason they would play their starters would be if KC lost to get the 3 seed.

I believe they will. No disrespect to the Steelers but I feel they will be the AFC representative in the Super Bowl.

I’ll be rooting for the Chiefs in the AFC once the Steelers are officially eliminated, but if I had to put money on anyone it would be New England- though it pains me to say it.

The Steelers don't have the weakest combo of coordinators in the NFL, look at Miami, Cincy, Washington, NY Giants a bunch of no-name guys.
