So, as soon as we get in FG range we should give up, and just run 3 times? I'm sure no one would RIP him for that.

No, but perhaps throwing other types of pass plays where the ball is out quicker or it's not into double coverage, like screens or stuff to the TE maybe?

...or maybe have a competent QB who knows you can't take sacks or just throw it up for grabs in that situation. Duck is a undrafted rookie, and it showed up in the worst way

Can't help the whoopsies on players for sure, but if he'd just call common sense ball and then shake it up every so often would be a nice start. 1st run, 2nd delay from shotgun 3rd and long over and over. Too pst upside and highly predictable execution be damned. When you don't have the personnel to over execute a predictable play then you have to dummy it down in the very least.

Yes he is so what do you expect other than that? Now couple that thought with an inept coordinator who simply can't design plays to enhance every weakness already jogged out on the field. I understand that injury after injury and the drop off in talent becomes insurmountable at some point but geez give them a chance to fail due to ineptness and not hamstringing them with a plethora of stupid calls.

i agree with what you are saying as far as today goes but what about the rest of the season? I feel like fitch called a decent game today even seen a we screen however it is week 16 and it took him this long to use it. I get our players were bad today and you have to put this loss on them but go back Fitch has been horrible and one semi good game called won’t change that. Jmo

I have seen enough of duck I would have lynch ready for next week and if mason can’t go and duck stinks it up we can at least get a little look at lynch. I am no long looking at the playoffs this season I am more worried at finding a qb that has some kind of upside for the future.

Have we seen any quick slants at all this year? DJ should be running those.

It's really just a comedy of errors honestly. Injuries X Untimely whoopsies X WTF play calls X bad flags X more injuries= a holy smokes grind of a season that honestly has been far more entertains than we thought entering the 2nd quarter of the season. Not over yet... See it through and hope for the best if they make it to the dance. If not, hope further for the best heading into the off season.

Why is running giving up? 4 of the 5 plays on that drive were runs, before they put it into Ducks hands. Plus, he showed he’s not competent, so all the more reason to run the ball in that situation. Tough to blame the rookies, which is why it’s on the coaching

Although I disagree and would rather them have another chance to play and not worry about whether or not they "embarrassing" themselves (opportunities are more important than potential bad games), but this year, anyone would be nuts to be embarrassed by how this team of 3rd and 4th stringers has done. Nobody expected them to get this far, and the fact that they have is awesome, and I'm proud of them. If they make it to the playoffs and get beat badly, there's absolutely no embarrassment in that, especially for a team of misfit toys.

Fair point. I guess if you're going to play conservative, go all in with it.

I'm not saying I love Fitch, but I think we could have Bill Walsh, and this O would still be bad. We have holes at virtually every offensive position.

Too many injuries and just not enough talent on the offensive side.

Pretty simple, it's not rocket science.

The D gave up one TD that should be enough, but not with either Duck or Rudolph at the helm.

Timing & placement from what limited time I have been able to watch. Mostly timing imo. Ball not there when it should be has them perplexed.

Missed the last two Steelers' possessions but heard them on the radio.

Wanted to read the end of game comments, and the beltzhooverkids' avatar made it well worth the effort. She is, uh, distracting.

First, I do want this team to make the playoffs. To say otherwise for any reason is foolish. Even if they get embarrassed, which is highly likely.

Secondly, other than the injuries, the biggest disappointment for me this year has been the overall performance of the offensive line. I think aging and wear and tear had as much or more to do with their decline as the loss of Mike Munchak. DeCastro was the only steady performer. Of course, not having an experienced signal caller behind them couldn't have helped, either.

Defensively, this team developed especially when Minkah Fitzpatrick got here but, I think they were fatigued down the stretch. This offense couldn't run the ball and sustain drives, so they were constantly on the field.

Other than Boz and the punt return for a TD by DJ, our ST's sucked. Barry needs to be shown the door.

As far as coaching, HCMT needs to can most of his staff and start over. If the Rooney's are going to keep him around, then Tomlin needs to bring in some fresh ideas.

At draft/FA, they need, in no particular order, a RB, OLT, ORT, S, and, as usual a LB, especially if they don't re-sign #48.

Overall, we could be in for some lean years especially if MR doesn't develop into a solid pro because Hodges is better suited for a beer league.

Yeah lets get in the playoffs so we can get embarrassed and complain about the offense some more. :lolol:

Randy is basically the QB coach that Ben doesn't want near Mason. Hence they titled him the OC.
