You are relatively new here (nice to have you). This was a play off of a previous member who would post something about winning the next game no matter how good the previous win. :smiley1:

3rd seed , 4th seed. Difference does it make? No bye? Rest my guys, if TN gets to go to KC, fine. I'm prepping for Buffalo

    Hey again jeh1856.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, I saw the other poster's comment but responded to you. You know, six of one, half-dozen of another concept. Yeah, I think I have been on the board for a little more than three months now but have been an onlooker for years. One of the best moves I ever made was to join. Especially with some time on my hands as a retired teacher.

Great avatar. I was watching some vintage video titled: "Jack Lambert's Hardest Hits" on YouTube the other day. I posted the link down below for your entertainment. Not sure if you have already seen it but who could get tired of seeing it numerous times? They do not build them like Lambert anymore. Below the link, I put together a listing of my favorite hits from the video and their time markers for you to enjoy. Take care.

My favorites are at the following time marks:

    • 1:02 – Blowing up the Browns RB. The saying: “That will cool you’re a-s-s off” Classic.

    • 1:28 - Blowing up the Browns RB.

    • 1:53 - Totally engulfing the Bengals QB

    • 1:57 - Infamous, As he came to the aid of our kicker in the Super Bowl.

    • 2:14 - Blowing up the Cowboys RB.

    • 2:28 – Even though the raiders scored, the passion demonstrated after the whistle was blown is what I’m talking about!

    • 2:47 – Body slamming the Bills player. Today would draw about four “Unnecessary Roughness” flags (LOL)!

Likely have to win out now.

    Steelers over Jets

    Ravens over Browns

Ravens sit Lamar and most starters next week. Steelers over Ravens.

    #6 seed.

Wining out does seem to be about the only way , but I’m wondering why everyone is convinced the Ravens will rest anyone.. Why in the world would they just let their hated( respected) rival into the playoffs without a fight ..The risk of facing a hot team in the playoffs,IDK , they already have the bye.I’d bet they’d love nothing more than to knock us out and have a not so familiar opponent in..

    Steelers still

Put the shoe on the other foot. I know I would be pretty upset with the decision to play everyone with nothing to gain. The Ravens/Steelers games are always a slug fest, very physical games. Couple that with a playoff birth on the line against a very physical, hungry, motivated Steelers defense, no chance Harbaugh risks injuries to Lamar.

Call me a homer but I don't see any reason this defense couldn't shutdown this offense. The biggest and really only ? Is the offense.

Looks like we have to win out. Titans have the best chance at the 6th seed, IMO. Just hope Steelers don't lay an egg today.... they have been superb this year by not playing down to lesser teams. Hope they keep it up. Losing to the Ravens would be an honorable loss if Jackson is starting.

If the Steelers win today and the Titans lose to the Saints then a tie against the Ravens would get us in the playoffs. That is not so farfetched as almost every Raven-Steeler game comes down to a FG at the end of the game and a few of the games have gone into OT.
Knowing that a tie would clinch the playoffs the Steelers could play very conservatively in OT by running the ball and punting to kill the 10 minute clock. If we got the ball back with less than 2 minutes to play and the Ravens were out of timeouts then 3 kneel downs would put the Steelers in the playoffs. There would be no need to risk running another play or attempt a FG that might be blocked. The goal wouldn't be to win the game, the goal would be to make the playoffs.

Updated ways to get in the playoffs as of this minute.

    1. Steelers beat Ravens and Titans lose to Houston.

    2. Steelers and Titans both lose to Baltimore and Houston and Indy beats the Jags and they all finish at 8-8. Indy would cancel the Titans out for the Steelers based on better division record and Steelers would win the head to head tiebreaker over Indy at 8-8.

In this scenario as well the Steelers still need the Raiders to lose either today to the Chargers or next week at Denver just in case they finish at 8-8 they would win the 4 way tiebreaker over the Steelers Colts and Titans. So root for the Raiders to lose today to the Chargers just in case this 8-8 scenario would be in play which it still very much is. So those are the only ways in the playoffs as of now. Should be a fun last week of the season.

I think you get in and anything can happen. The y don’t seem to be playing SB caliber right now, but who knows.
Playoffs for us would be a good thing. I’m personally not worried about draft position.

Whatever happens is what’s going to happen. I’m just trying to enjoy the ride. Go Steelers!!

We will definitely lose to the Ravens next week and the Colts will beat the Jags. The Titans though aren't going to lose to the Texans backups next week and they will nail down the final playoff shot.

Texans have a chance to be the 3 seed and possibly avoid the Bills and play the Steelers or the Titans in the WC game so they will give the Titans a game. It’s not a slam dunk gimmie that the Titans win this game.

It might give the Texans a bit more incentive if they were actually the 3 heading in to week 17. Bears need to beat the Chiefs tonight.

However, I don't think most teams or coaches care about 3 vs 4 positioning (even if it's valuable) if they can instead take a mini bye in week 17. That being said, I'm guessing KC will play their starters tonight even though the 2 is pretty much out of THEIR grasp so I guess we'll see.

GO CHARGERS, BEARS, TEXANS AND COLTS! Oh and I guess Steelers too.....

8-8 and watching from home is more likely. But hey, Tomlin keeps his streak of no losing seasons in tact. Definitely COTY. :getsick:

We had some fortunate breaks this year and a horribly weak schedule maybe next year we can go 5-11 to break the streak??

This offense is worst than LSU and they play college football

The Raiders look like they are gonna win today so it’s gonna make the potential 8-8 scenario with the Colts and Titans next week should it happen more difficult. The Raiders will also need to lose in Denver.

So with the Raiders win today here are the only two scenarios the Steelers can make the playoffs

    1. Steelers beat Ravens and Titans lose to Texans.

    2. Steelers lose but Titans also lose to Texans, Colts beat the Jaguars and Raiders lose in Denver to the Broncos. Steelers would win the 3 way tiebreaker at 8-8 over both the Titans and Colts. If all 3 Steelers Titans and Colts are 8-8 and Raiders win in Denver Raiders get in at 8-8 over the Steelers based on strength of victory.

So that’s it pretty much unless a tie or something really bizarre happens in one of these games and somebody finishes 8-7-1 to somebody’s 8-8.
