Honestly, this loss was in the cards (for Duck)

Duck is an undrafted 3rd string QB who looked a lot better than he is for the past few weeks due to playing some of the worst teams in the NFL. Tonight we played a playoff team and the carriage turned back into a pumpkin. Play calling didn't do him any favors but this is who Duck is. Lack of pocket awareness (still maybe more than Rudolph) and a lack of arm strength that resulted in at least 1 of his picks. He is who we thought he is. He had a nice run, kind of like Jeremy Lin in Linsanity, but he is not a NFL starter. We will finish the season 9-7 and hope Ben comes back healthy next year.

Duck is what he is. A stop gap that can manage the game if things go right.

He wasn't going to be the second coming of Kurt Warner.

Duck may not ever be a long term NFL starter, but I think it is as much or more game planning than anything why we lost. We seemed unprepared for a game where we should have known Duck would have less time than average to throw the ball because the Bills have a pretty good defense. Some changes were made during the half, but too little too late in what was doomed to be a very low scoring game. Scoring only 3 points in the first half is unacceptable.

We even struggle to score against weaker defenses, how do we not prepare accordingly for an above average defense? Any decent offensive coordinator should be able to do better than we do now with the players we have.

The net turn over deficit sealed our fate. We have to be net positive on turn overs because our offense is lame. Our offense helped their offense score. Our defense could have done better on a couple plays, but the burden put on them by the poor play of our offense was too much. Yeah, Duck showed he makes bad decisions sometimes when pressured. I think he never saw pressure like this before, but as I said, we should have known and been prepared.

Even at that he still made a couple really nice throws. That first down to Johnson was the same one he got pick off earlier in the game. Came right back and threw a dart. I’d like to see him add a little pump fake or some eye movement to look off the safeties, but that’s what you learn to do as you play and gain some experience.

Reality can be a very humbling experience. I agree as some other posters
have stated the offensive coordinator does not help our young qb's.

Agree. There was even a article over at Steelers Depot about how Buffalo is one of the top teams in the league when it comes to generating quick pressure. Like you said, something we should of clearly been prepared for. Maybe our coaches should head over to SD to help devise a game plan ,instead of the “ do what we do” approach. It’s unacceptable to ask a young QB (either one) to throw the ball 40 times in a close game. Yet here we are....
