OK that's what I thought you were getting at and really can't argue with it.

Thanks. I was on my way to making a good point there until I stepped on my own (insert word the site won't let me get away with). :)

Why is there so much less traffic on this website when the Steelers win? This is crazy.

If they had lost to Arizona there would be 10 threads about why Tomlin is terrible and Colbert doesn’t need a new contract.

It’s as though people would rather complain than enjoy

I think it is more that people feel a need to vent, to express those negative emotions and ideas somewhere.

    Exactly

I feel sad for some of the people who come here. They must have horrible lives.

The biggest positive is that someone has the courage to even start a "Positive" thread after a game. Thank you OP. A lot has been said about the D but to me the biggest visible improvement has been that both the WR's and RBs have been catching virtually everything that Duck has been tossing their way and for decent gains. Yes there's still the missing TE plays but the way that Johnson, Washington and Cain are pulling in the passes, it's not a critical void right now. Even JuJU was dropping passes left and right early on, but then again Duck wasn't tossing them, #2 was.

Man, a month ago I was upset knowing that after Juju we had Diontae Johson and James Washington; now, I'm thrilled. That's a really formable group to work with.

Add that with a HEALTHY Conner, Snell and White and we had a chance at a solid offense.

Gotta say, I've always hated the story line of two QB's are competing against each other. It's preposterous IMO.

That is how Bud was getting 99% of his sacks the first 4 years but this is different. I have been critical but maybe the light has come on, he is actually getting to the inside of guys when he has an opening and when a run play is going to the outside he sees it and sets the edge keeping contain. He is still getting the coverage sack but he has played a lot better and not just pass rushing but run stopping as well.

You are right about the addition on Minkah helping him but to be fair he is helping TJ as well. Those guys don't have to constantly drop into coverage because there are guys there that can actually cover. Those extra pass rush attempts are paying dividends, it has been a long time since the defense has looked this good. Could you imaging this defense 3 years ago with a healthy AB, Bell, and Brown? Even last year, I think they could have made a SB run.

I’ve always been one of Duprees biggest critics. My biggest criticism of him was his lack of tenacity. Instead of standing around piles before, now he’s in them ,he’s creating them. That to me is the biggest reason for his breakout season. Some can say Butler being the LB coach. I don’t buy it. He’s motivated to earn a long term deal. He’s throwing caution to the wind to ensure it happens. At he end of the day it doesn’t really matter why. He’s ballin’ for sure but sadly it coming at at a time where he ballin’ himself out of town now.

It doesn't matter for this season, but it absolutely matters for the future. The Steelers can try to re-sign him or put the franchise tag on him, but one of the arguments against it is concern that we will only see this from him in a contract year.

Definitely a concern that his improvement is financially related. I was just trying to keep it positive and give him credit, especially when I’ve been one of his biggest critics. I’m not envious of whoever has to make that decision at the end of the year. I just can’t see that type of money being invested at one position and we all know Watt needs to get his. It’s kinda a shame it’s taken this long when this type of production would of been a windfall in previous years.

Not too much I can add to this. I will say that, within each game, Kerrith Whyte is becoming more and more of a factor; his abilities in space doubly so and no less. If the offense is attempting to run draw plays from the Shotgun Formation, best to use someone with explosive capabilities as opposed to someone who is meant to power the ball between the tackles.

Defense though is elite without question. I am seeing some semblance of that legendary 2008 Defense. Major difference is that the talent on that Defense was better but I believe that the versatility of this one is greater.

Murray never saw him. That really was a terrible decision. If he had run with the ball, Murray easily had the first down and probably the touchdown.

Whyte and Cain have been excellent and look like they can definitely have a future here. Two playmakers....

This bodes well via cap space as well. JuJu will have to prove himself in 2020 as that year is his contract season; James Conner the same. Should the likes of Diontae Johnson and Benny Snell Jr improve from here, I would imagine that either James or JuJu will not be here come 2021.

Of course, keep in mind that I am asumming Diontae and Benny both have that expected 2nd year leap.

I was also happy to see Samuals survive that head shot that made his helmet fly about 10 feet. No flag. I don't ever want to hear anyone in the NFL organization say they care about the players safety. That hit was one of the worst I've see this year and nothing came of it. IMO and preference, that is how the game should be/ had been played played but if you're going to make a rule to keep players from doing it you have to be consistent and enforcing it. The officiating is getting worse and I am not sure where they are getting these jokers but they has to be a better pool to draw from.

I don’t think I’m over reacting when I say the officiating is actually ruining the NFL....it’s making it so hard to watch. With all the convoluted rules, interpretations of those rules and shameful inconsistencies I don’t think there’s ever been a point in the history where they are single handedly changing outcomes of games to this extent. Hard pressed to completely rule out they are intentionally doing so in certain games or at least trying their damndest.
